This group is interesting
Found the site while trying to avoid painting the new walls. I'd rather take a beating than paint.

The forums are good too.
Maybe were more alike than different.

But when push comes to shove: how do they vote?
Do they vote and support those who would deny, infringe, and curtail Second Amendment rights or those who support those rights?....
Those that I know who label themselves "liberal" gun owners, support and vote for those and the political party who are not Second Amendment supporters.

Exactly, they talk the talk and then vote for the worst of the devils never understanding that ALL the issues are interconnected and that liberty can never be compromised.

Yep. They are the ones that will say, "You don't need an AR15 to go deer hunting, I do just fine with my grand dad's '06", and will be happy as long as the guns in their gun safe are left alone. They will not be the ones banding together to stop any gun control because it would be taking the food out of their other hand. Sorry, but I feel like the term Liberal Gun Club is the definition of an oxymoron. I hope I'm wrong, it would be good to have a little common sense on the other side of the isle.

I've seen the forum due to work, but I can't stomach spending any time there. The people who post there tend to be obscene, crude, rude, tasteless and always pushing indecency and immorality.
Also, I don't care for the general attitude that they want to have the particular guns they like, but all other aspects of life should be regulated, but i can handle a political difference of opinion. It is the above that I quickly tire of.

Exactly, they tend to compartmentalize, everything in it's own little box, never connecting the dots.2LT Van Cott wrote:Exactly, they talk the talk and then vote for the worst of the devils never understanding that ALL the issues are interconnected and that liberty can never be compromised.

Personally, I believe that we tend to label things such as groups rather haphazardly. I tend to consider myself a liberal.
I desire a liberal interpretation of my rights; a liberal aplication of available punishment for those who violate my rights; a liberal education, as in more is better than less; a liberal opportunity for my betterment, socially and financially; I believ in a "a gov't of the people, by the people & for the people, yet I recognize that most people are idiots and don't deserve the right of self-rule; I believe in the many social programs to aid the needs of those that need that "helping hand', but I deplore the abuse of those same programs; so, how is it that when I vote to emplement my liberal views, I'm labeled a "conservative"?
Non-sensical.

A bunch of "us" consider the Rs & Ds the exact same thing, politically. I would like you to think about how long you would have a (meaningful) 2nd Amendment if they all voted with the Ds...Yes, Virginia, there is a big difference.

I know how the dems will vote. What worries me are the progressives masquerading as republicans who are siding with the dems.

You are describing a Victorian liberal. Winston Churchill remarked about that. they believed in the individuals rights, and in most ways would be considered 'conservatives' today. Mcarthur called himself a Victorian liberal as well. the 'conservatives' in that day did not approve of every one having the same rights. interesting how the labels switch.Griff wrote:Personally, I believe that we tend to label things such as groups rather haphazardly. My oldest brother was a Political Science Professor at a large university for many years... and we have MANY interesting discussions. Yes... but the term is "Progressive". Just about finished reading a new(er) book about T. Roosevelt & W.H. Taft... Their rift in 1912 set the stage for Woodrow Wilson... Ol' Teddy became quite the radical in the day.hfcable wrote:You are describing a Victorian liberal. Re: This group is interesting
I currently know one guy who shoots yet consistently votes for the liberals. One thing I've heard the guy say is that he would give up all of his shooting hobby if it meant an end to gun violence.
That he even considers this a logical possibility is part of the reason I never take liberal gun owners seriously. It's as if they are willing to consider the possibility that the sun will rise in the west tomorrow, just because it would be so nice. These are not realistic thinkers, they will always vote for the charlatan huckster who promises them a rosy future that they cannot see is impossible. It is the election equivalent of buying a lottery ticket.
The GOP has plenty of hucksters as well, though it doesn't seem to me that they rise as far by promising the impossible.
This probably should be over in politics.
