Finally arrived...

Post by mod71alaska »

Well, it almost feels like Christmas! I've been waiting weeks for 500 rds. of CCI .22 Mag V-Max ammo, and it finally arrived today. The new Hornady V-Max bullet in .22 Mag ammo has been hard to find in stock at a "reasonable" price. I want the V-Max bullet because of it's highly explosive characteristic upon impact. Where I live in Maine there is a lot of rock in the woods...more granite than dirt! I hope plinking with V-Max ammo will all but eliminate the potential of an errant long range ricochet.

There's still 2-3 feet of snow in the woods here, but spring is in the air. The sun is quite warm by mid day and it's still freezing hard at night. That's good...perfect as a matter of fact!...because before the day warms up you can walk in the woods right on top of the deep snow without snowshoes. You best not stay too long, though, or you're screwed and in for a brutal slog home!

Here are my Winchester 9422M carbine and 9422M Legacy rifle:

Very good. When yousaid "explosive on contact", thought maybe you were thinkin' changin' the ratio of granite to dirt... or an least reducing the size of rock!

Good for you, keep the reports coming friend.
Thats a good looking set you have there, if ever I would want a mag22 it would have to be a 9422m for sure.

Nice, let us know how it groups, my 9422M seems to like Winchester Super-X 40gr JHP. the best.
Have not had any luck with CCI, but will need to try the V-Max.

I really need to get one of those 9422M Legacy's. Great looking rifle.

Nice looking rifles. If you can swing it, you maybe ought to lay in another 1,000 rounds. Funny how fast they go when you're out in the field plinking and having fun.

Not only does that "ammo go" when you're out plinking, it goes UP and UP at the place you buy it too. If anyone goes and looks at price stickers on boxes of ammo they bought maybe just 5 years ago, and compares to prices now, makes you wish you had skipped a couple house payments back when to buy ammo.

Thanks, Jay. :D The carbine stock looks like it's scratched in the photo, but both 9422s are 99.5%. I haven't figured out how to take rifle photos without capturing reflections in the finish. Professional lighting would help...yeah, right! It's point and click all the way!!!

This year in mid Maine we had a "global warming" winter with over 100 inches of snow...more than usual...and colder temps, too. Last night it was down to 15 F again, which is way below normal for March 29th. Global warming? Maybe, but not this year!!!

Personally, I love snow, cold and winter...and summer's are way tooooo hot!!!

I agree with all of you who say "get more ammo!" I'd like to get another 1000 rounds of V-Max. It's just a matter of $$$$! :D

I'm off to a dealer in Portsmouth today to pick up my "bargin" 9422M.
I very much doubt that I'll find any Hornady V max over here, which is a pity as the ground where I hunt is full of flint and I do get the occasional ricochet.
Whatever you do always give 100%........... unless you are donating blood.

A 22 mag levergun is on my list of rifles to get before I die though due to scarcity and price hike of the 9422Ms I probably end up with a Henry Goldenboy.
