OT redhawk sights

After shooting some 405g loads from this petite and shiny hideout gun I decided to put the peep back on it. I shoot better with this kind of sight.

The rear sight I whittled out of aluminum a long time ago, but it didn't work out with the light bullets I was using then, 325g. Ha. I put it back on to see where it's gonna hit with the 405s. I think if it gave me an impact anywhere from 40 to 60 yards I would be happy with it. However, if it does, it's gonna mean I have to do a serious hold-under at closeup ranges. Could be a factor on charging bear shots. I just have to take someone slower than me I guess.

I might order a green fiber sight to try out. Might be the ticket. Anyway, this is what happens when the fish aren't biting and the rest of the crew is asleep. Whatdya thinks?

OK OK I can hear it already, those ain't no stinkin' 405g bullets. Of course not, those are the whimpy lil ol 200g 44 spls for social meetings...

I've been thinking about a Redhawk myself. I just can't make up my mind between that ans a S&W Mountain gun. I know they seem at two different ends of the spectrum. We usually carry a handgun more than we shoot it. In our dense vegetation here in Fla. I don't fee a bit under gunned with a handgun.

On the website Oneraggedhole.com they sell a sight for the Ruger revolvers that seems to like what you came up with. It must work if someone is selling them commercially.

I recently bought a 'ghost ring' rear sight for my Redhawk, and I sort of like it, but the metal is too wide (hold is fine, but rim around it too wide), so I have to shoot it some more to see if I want to slim it up some.

For hunting with a handgun, I've never found a scope I really liked, and I hate Patridge sights, so I've usually settled for U-notch + gold bead like on a rifle. Since I like peep/aperture for rifle better, I decided to try them on handgun, and I think they are great.
