I played (did not shoot) with one last month at a gunshop. It was typical Miroku with a nice finsh, close wood to metal fit, deep quality blue and excellent/tight mechanics. Encks Gun Barn has it....can't remember the price as I was not interested....somewhere around 12.-----6

Why would you accuracy test a rifle at distances I can shoot pistols at?

I often wonder the same thing. Even in "Rifle" magazine, the magazine for knowledgeable rifleman, Mike Venturino will test pistol calibers leverguns at 25 yards. Maybe it's because a lot of those rifles are inaccurate at 100 meters. I can attest to that as I have shot many modern Marlins at 100 meters and without exception, my 100 year old+ 1892's and 1873's will blow them away easily, but this is with guns that I have that have a very nice bore condition. I never could get any modern pistol calibers leverguns in 44 mag, 357' or 44-40 to do much better than 3", with most running around 5". This is with cast bullets and tang sights.MrMurphy wrote:Why would you accuracy test a rifle at distances I can shoot pistols at?
I've slugged a lot of modern leverguns and find their groove diameters to be on the large end and maybe that's got something to do with it.
It also has something to do with marketing as a lot of buyers of these guns are cowboy action shooters who only use these guns at close distances and nothing else.----6

Is it a true replica, of the original or does it have any added safetys or rebounding hammers like we have been seeing on the 86's and 95's etc.?

I don't remember, but if I had to bet, I'd say no to any safeties.

I doubt that The Lawyers would let them sell something that would not be safe to shoot all modern ammo, and most reloads....

Howdy Folks,
I picked up one of these recently.. Excellent quality, shoots well, no goofy safeties..
I had a nice Uberti, but sold it.. Also have a NKJ '92 in .357.. I reckon 2 is enough..
I've been cutting back on calibers a bit lately.. (Partial success!)
Get one, you'll like it!

Winchester reserved the .44-40 for its own marketing campaign.. Navy Arms (others..?) is selling the .357 and .45 Colt..

Haven't found this to be the case at all. Gotta late model Marlin .44 that does an inch at 100yds with select loads. Most others get tested at 50yds and do an inch at that range. My Uberti 1873 .38-40 does an inch with every load I've ever tried in it.Sixgun wrote: I never could get any modern pistol calibers leverguns in 44 mag, 357' or 44-40 to do much better than 3", with most running around 5".

I'm with you guys. They test a rifle as distances I'd use a pistol for. Shoot the darn thing at 100 yards, then tell us the groups.Sixgun wrote:I often wonder the same thing. Maybe they did and decided it would be better, for their review, if they did it where the groups were half way decent.JB wrote:I'm with you guys. They test a rifle as distances I'd use a pistol for. Shoot the darn thing at 100 yards, then tell us the groups.Sixgun wrote:
