After 30 years working in pest control I have finally retired. I have had to buy my own vehicle as I've had company cars for the last 25 years and my laptop packed up as soon as I returned my company computer so I'm typing this on a 7" screen tablet.
I can't post pictures on this thing or I would include one of my new (old) ride, our Aussie friends will know it as the little Proton Ute or Jumbuck, it sure has come in handy for hauling firewood.

Congratulations GK, welcome to the club for leisured gentlemen. Buying your own vehicle and paying for the fuel is a real downer- I went from a BMW 5 series to a 4 x 4 boneshaker when I retired but the benefits of retirement hugely outweigh the disadvantages. In next to no time you will be thinking "I wonder how I ever found time to go to work".
Many congratulations!!
Made me realize I have been retired nearly fifteen years now!
Perry got it right about wondering where you had the time to fit work in!
Enjoy it you will
Pete
Sometimes I wonder if it is worthwhile gnawing through the leather straps to get up in the morning..................
You've retired from letting other people pay you to go shooting... in England?
Down at the Pub... what odds are they giving on you going batty for having nothing to shoot at? I'm in for a Quid on less than 2 months...

When U said Pest Control that scared Me, thinking Chemical then I remembered what Pests U referred to. Congrats and Enjoy !

There is a fine line between hobby & obsession! AND... I'm over it!!
No I ain't ready, but let's do it anyway!
Congratulations! This is really an accomplishment. I retired 12/01/09 and have had the best time of my life. I'm happy, somewhat healthy (only a short two year battle with cancer, which is now gone, thank God), and livin' the good life...

Big congrats, game keeper! Hope you got all your home maintenance chores taken care of while you were working 'cause now you won't have time to do such stuff.
And don't pay any attention of madman's so-called advice. Where else are the world's problems going to be solved if not at the "coffee mafia" meetings? Well, maybe beer-30 meetings could substitute...

Did you get the mini- El-Camino or the sports ute. Neat looking little pick up. What year is it?

Thank you all for the best wishes and advice, I have been looking forward to retiring since starting work back in 1964

The Ute is a 2005 model with 40,000 on the clock and it's bright yellow.... It had the sport bars behind the cab but I took them off as I prefer the clean lines of El-Camino type truck..

Best wishes, I retired two years ago this month. My only regret is that my retirement made my Leverguns user name meaningless, making me look stupid. Oh well....

I retired a few years ago, it is Fantastic !! The only difference is that nowadays I don't have to get dressed & drive to some building to take my afternoon nap.
Congratulations! I have 10 years to go and will be getting $700 a month from state, and $700 from social security (if anything left in SS to give). Where can I live for $1400 a month? Not Hawai'i that's for sure.

You finally made it! Congratulations. I can remember when I was in the count-down mode 10 years ago and boy did the days ever crawl by. Now they seem to fly but the ride is mostly enjoyable. Wishing you good health and a happy retirement.

Congratulations, John! I have experienced what Perry said, "I wonder how I ever found time to go to work!" I expect you will find the same. I imagine the word of your new leisure time is spreading quickly right now and small game in your neck of the woods is heading for deep cover or hot footing it to the next county!
I was surprised at how little was needed to get by - as there was no longer coffe shop visits 3x/day, and the daily lunch/deli shop visits.
I now get my reading material free, online or @ a library, ILO buying books/magazines.
Your Proton Jumbuck sure looks like the Subaru BRAT, to me.
The Jumbuck:

Always liked the Brat. Never understood why they didn't keep up with at least one small frame pickup using their AWD system. The "Baja" was interesting, but as a 4-door it really never fit in.
How about an Outback based P/U with a decent sized space for guns behind the front seats?
