I'm done! Collection complete!
Just picked up the last lever rifle I'm ever going to buy. This addiction has gotten WAY out of control...........Thanks in part to you folks!
I was driving from Massachusetts to Missouri on a deer hunt when reading another forum (SASS), I see a Uberti 1876 in 45-60 with a 22" barrel, dies, bullets etc included. The price was right. I emailed the fellow to let me know how much to make the check out for and where to send it......Done deal!
So that's it! Finished...Done...Over-And-Out!......
Let's see what I ended up with:
1860 Uberti 44-40
1866 Uberti 38-40
1873 Uberti 45LC
1873 Winchester (1884 Vintage) 38-40
1876 Uberti 45-60
1886 Winchester Take Down 45-70 (Japan)
1889 Marlin 38-40
1892 Winchester (1894 vintage) 38-40
1892 Winchester Take Down 38-40 (Japan)
1892 Winchester Take Down 45LC (Japan)
1892 Winchester Stainless Taurus Take Down 45LC
1892 Rossi Brass Frame /SS Octagon 45LC
1892 Rossi 454 Casull
1893 Marlin ( 1897 vintage) 30-30
1894 Marlin Cowboy 45LC
1894 Marlin Cowboy 32H&R Mag
1894 Winchester Take Down 32SPL
Marlin 1895 Octagon/Short Mag 45-70
Mod 94 Winchester 38-55
Marlin 336 Octagon barrel 30-30
Marlin 39M 22RF Mountie
Marlin 39 Octagon Barrel 22Rf
Henry 22RF Octagon
This is SICK!...but fun!
How bad is your disease........List them

Re: I'm done! Collection complete!
Nice collection. It I don't see any win mod 94 in 30-30 or any Savage 99 in any caliber. Just my opinion, but every collection needs at least 1 model 99. Who says we are enablers ?
Happiness is a comfortable stump on a sunny south facing mountain.
Re: I'm done! Collection complete!
I don't see how you could call a levergun collection complete without a Winchester 1895.

How about the Browning (Miroku) B-92? That's without a doubt the best of the Winchester 1892 clones. Get one. They were made in .357 and .44 Mag, and their quality is nothing short of astounding.
Browning also made an incredible copy of the 1886 Winchester in 45-70. They were made in 2 styles: a saddle ring carbine and an octagonal barrel rifle, both with full length magazines.

Re: I'm done! Collection complete!
Yes, you have done well, but....................not well enough. You need all sorts of stuff in there, like leverguns and pumps in 32-20 and 25-20, single shot Sharps and Remington Keenes, many, many, single action colts along with flattop Rugers, with a smattering of pre-war N-frame 'Smiths. Ammo and loading gear to feed this stuff is a must............................it never really ends until you do. --------------6
Re: I'm done! Collection complete!
Sir, you are no where near done. What about BLR's and Savage 99's?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ 25/35 like he said, or at least a 25WCF
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

My selection! I would say you have the bases covered! But a Winchester 1895 would be nice.
Would love to have a model 94 32 special TD for myself as well

Of course you need a 218 Bee, 25-20, along with the 32-20, so you have the entire 'series'.
Maybe a 256 Winchester and 357 Mag 'pair' as well...

And maybe a Savage 99 takedown in 300 Savage....

BUT! You still NEED a Winchester 94 in .30-30! A Trapper would just DIFFERENT enough; and it'll fill a huge void in that list.

Re: I'm done! Collection complete!
A '95? First choice should be an 06. But........not an beater as these have headspace issues. Preferably one made after the war to the end of production that has seen little use....say. $2500-3000.
Then the 30-40 Krag as you will be familiar with the 30 caliber. After that, maybe a 303 British which is only a few thousandths off. From there, you can graduate to the 35 and the 405. Last ones should be the 38-72 and the 40-72 as they are problematic with tolerances and such.
Start with rifles and after you have all of the rifles, get carbines, which are not available in all of the calibers but that's ok as,you can substitute the carbines for flat sides in round and octagon.
Shotgun Buttstocks and takedowns come next and last you can get the deluxes, but with the deluxes, try to get ones with nice Lyman mod. 21 or 38 sights. Also, with the deluxes, some came with a straight lever that looks funny with the pistol grip stocks buts that's ok as curved levers with predominate, along with checkering and top matting.
Your done? The 95's have the least amount of variations, so then you go to the 73's, 86's.............................
I hate to tell you this, but you are gonna die one day wishing for this or that ----6

In an 1895 Winchester I would suggest 7.62X54R, the cartridge that a majority of them were chambered in. Plus cheap surplus ammo for it is about $.20-25 a round, a lot better than spending up to $2.00 or more a round for other rounds this rifle was chambered in if you don't reload.
