Finally Leaving On My Big USA Tour....

Post by Blaine »

The Big Metal TeePee is packed (if not ready...still needs some shelves and cubby holes for everything). I'll be heading off east on the 12 to Missoula, thru Yellowstone, thru Cody, and down to Wheatland. Hopefully, meeting forumites on the way. Old Ironsights, you will no doubt be working, but, maybe I can track you down coming out of Wheatland, and at least buy coffee. I'll be meandering in a generally eastern fashon, ending up in Columbus, Ohio to visit my 89 year old Mother (who is living on her own and doing a limited amount of local driving...still mean as a snake). I'll be checking in when I find some 4G, or WiFi. I'm going to stay out as long as I'm enjoying it, and have meds/gas money...A bittersweet trip. It's way cool to be retired and have no end dates, or time constraints, but, I also know that actuarially speaking, that light at the end of the tunnel is really the end  ..You only live once. If you have a second and feel like it, have a good thought for my trip. I believe in that sort of power.

Blessings for your trip. Also, if you decide to swing north (as in North Dakota), send me a PM and if I'm not working I will be glad to meet you for a meal (I'll even buy).

Not working currently. Call me. PM inbound.

Note: If you come down US 26 to Torrington & on through Scottsbluff to Ogalala rather than I-25 to Cheyenne & over on I-80 you will pass reasonably close to Don McDowell's place and drive right past my front door...

Go to the Buffalo Bill Historic Center in Cody. You can spend half a day in the gun portion, which is only 1/5 of the museum. The Ponderosa RV park is very close and within walking distance of the museum, Sierra Trading Post, and a DQ.

If you make it through Asheville, give me a holler. We've got a large brand new guest shower, a guest suite and friendly hospitality waiting for you. The third week in October is the best week of leaf season to see the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in our area. Hobie's leaves are a week earlier.
Kind regards,
