Good Karma goes around - another special gift
In light of my post about the donated rifle, another great forum member purchased two guns from me. He is keeping one and donated the other to a youth! We're thinking of observing a responsible child at the annual dove shoot and presenting the gun to him/her out of the blue! A real generous anonymous gesture!
This all got me in the mood to do the same. I found an elderly couple that is interested in having a firearm for home protection. They were asking around for something that cost $50. I don't suppose they could get much for that price and I figure they can't afford more. I heard about it and contacted them. They can handle one of the guns I have - so I am giving it to them with 5 boxes of ammo.
Happy Easter - this is a great place to hang out, no doubt!

All my sons youth firearms (he is 14 and 6'2") have been handed to cousins
and friends children, it is the proper thing to do.
But the Gents on this forum never cease to amaze me.

Way to go! Now that makes me
smile and lifts my spirits...
I am sending my 1895GS 45-70 457WW mag with my wife up to Alaska in April for my Son in Law to use....but he's family. I've got my 71s for the lower 48 critters, and I don't want a Bear to chew up my Son in Law...He's new to Alaska....The wife's coming back...I hope!
That's mighty fine of you to give an elderly couple a way to protect themselfs...
There are still a lot of good folks out there and you stand in thier ranks...no doubt.

Joe,
That is awesome, especially since you are gathering funds from the sale of the firearms to move your family down. If there is anything that we can do here to help make that happen for you, let us know.

I'm saving up to pay the movers an astronomical amount to get my family to TX with me. Some of the gun sales and other stuff I sold are to help fund that. What Mike is saying is that I gave away the PPK instead of using the cash I could have got for it. I believe what goes around comes around, and that helping someone else is the right thing to do when you can. Here are these folks buying my guns, which is helping me pay for the move. Then they go and donate the gun to someone who needs it. I wish I could have done that in the first place, so I went ahead and made it happen with the one handgun. Everything is working out fine and we're not suffering any hardships. There are a lot of folks much worse off than me and mine. Thanks for the concern. Thanks to everyone who purchased items.

Joe,
In the interest of speeding up Karma, How much do you need to make up the difference to get your family together. Life is too short to be apart. I want to help. This forum wants to help. You have helped many. I am going do what I can to make this happen. Tell us what you need and I will help generate the funds.

I don't know what to say except Thanks! That is an unbelievable offer.
Call me stubborn, but we consider this the cost of "doing business" with the Government (some of you know what I mean). We feel that getting through this on our own will make us stronger and we will appreciate everything more in the end. I am lucky to have a job, and a trade and my wife's business. I have been taking advantage of extra money opportunities at work, doing a bunch of gun work and selling some surplus and helping out at the ranch on the weekend. It is a blessing to have some options to get a little extra done. The setback is selling the house in NY. I have gotten offers, even good ones, but the potential buyers cannot get the money from the lenders. I am optimistic that the Spring season will have people wanting to move on the water and generate more interest. People look every weekend, just no takers yet. Once the house in NY sells, everything will be fine. I can't accept any monetary help since this was a decision we made with knowledge of the potential setbacks and difficulties. Heck - I'm going to Africa in a month, a trip of a lifetime for some folks. There is no way I can feel in a bind with my family situation while I'm getting ready to pack up and head overseas. That trip was planned and paid for last May before any news of moving came to be. Thank you very much Mike - and everyone else that gave good wishes and/or purchased some items. If anyone needs any shotgun work, or can use one of the items I have for sale, let me know.

Well, at least I don't have to fret about not being able to fondle the PPK any more...
I wouldn't worry too much about the house. It's in a good location and if you have it at a decent price point the spring relocations always happen - even in a down market.
Have you put in any "heads up" listings at the office or "trade organizations"? Somebody in the wider web might be looking for some waterfront...
