Howdy I've been a life member since 1975 when it cost $150.00.I have been a Benefactor Life for 10 years. Now I just recieved in the mail today Life memberships for $300.00. I don't like it when the NRA sells life members to raise money. Harlon Carter was one of the greatest NRA member we ever had and only paid himself $100,000. Wayne gets $750,000/year. I'm also a Life memeber of the GOA. Larry Pratt does not believe in compromising unlike the NRA. Don't get me wrong I support the NRA BUT MAYBE WE NEED ANOTHER REVOLT LIKE THE Cincinnati Revolt IN 1977.

Well, today I upgraded to Endowment member and, after confirming they were not already members, signed up my daughter and son-in-law for annual memberships. That's 5+ I've gotten this year.

We need the numbers. Unfortunately I can't find a membership "clock" for the NRA. That would help us, I'm sure.
Sincerely,

Hobie

Way to go Hobie!! You are a good man!

After pondering it for years, I finally upgraded to LIFE MEMBER a few weeks ago. Just got all my stuff in the mail. They offered me a life membership, I'm 45 years old now, for $750. I just couldn't financially do it at the $1,000 level so jumped at the offer for $750. NRA will never please everyone but they darn sure do a heck of a lot of good for us! They need every dollar they can muster right now with the Obama regime in place and congress run by the anti's.

Sure feel my $750 will be best used right now in the near future. You should have seen my wife look at me when I told the NRA guy I'd upgrade to LIFE!!! But she went along and see's the wisdom of it!

I signed up for another year on top of this years membership. It costs 10 bucks a year more and I can't take up the insurance because I'm in England but I still think it's a small price to pay to help keep freedom alive in the Colonies.

Been a while since anyone posted to this thread, so thought I would. I've been a annual member for over 30yrs. This year I upgraded to life member. While I haven't always agreed with NRA leadership, its still the best voice we have in Washington, and we will need it now more than ever!

As I understand it, the NRA is accepting Life Membership upgrades for $300 with the sponsorship of another Life Member until March 31. Now would be a good time to upgrade your membership if you have not already done so.

Well I am a NRA member and just upgraded my life membership to Endowment and as soon as i can will upgrade again. You may not like the NRA but they are the best we have and yes they do make mistakes but don't we all? This is a fight we either win or loose there is no middle ground.
While you are arguing about the NRA I am waiting to hear when a funeral is for a friend of mine that burned to death today in a plane crash and left a family behind. Now that is something to get upset about. Now if you don't like what the NRA is doing get in to the membership and fight for changes and then you have the right to complain.

I called the NRA on Monday the 14th. Got a "Life" for 375 bucks, I'm 65, and they even credited me back 100 bucks for the years I was paid ahead on annual membership. I was paid till Feb 2015, and they do offer right now 5 years for 100 dollars, so they made the total owed 275 dollars, which I thought was fair. Always wanted to be a Lifer, seems like it was 250 when I joined 25 or 30 years ago. Good deal here, since I'm going to live to be 105.

Sounds like you got a really good deal. I became a lifer 39 years ago and upgraded last year and will upgrade again next year. Total cost will be less then a few years ago they wanted to be a life menber. Things must be getting tight for them or the bills are getting big and they need cash now.

Hobie wrote:So, lets find a candidate or two for the board and vote ONLY for them in the next board election. Several of us wrote in JimT, Paco and John Taffin in the last election. Voting only for those you like even though you could vote for a bunch concentrates your vote on the deserving and takes votes from everyone else. If enough of us do this we don't have to take the board's nominees. So, pick somebody now, make the case now and lets start campaigning for them NOW and get them on the board. Then we'll do a couple more. Being ABLE to do this will put pressure on other board members and board members will put pressure on the "execs".
Hobie is right on this strategy. We have used it in local elections with success. Voting for only one out of several choices does concentrate the vote. It is effective.

+1 on the subject. I upgraded to Life Member this last year.

I have renewed my NRA membership.
I know only too well how small your indvidual voice is without a powerful organisation like the NRA to speak for you.
The UK has it's own NRA but it's nothing like yours, more of an old boys club that does not like rocking the boat. We have other pro gun organisations but they too are tiny and without teeth.
I know the American NRA can't help me personally but it is a small price to pay to keep alive the freedom to own firearms in at least one civilised country.

God Bless The USA.

Not so sure. The NRA continues to battle the nit-wits in the UN that want to see global civilian disarmament, so they are helping all gun owners in a way.

I just emailed the NRA to find out why I have not received my membership details etc. I renewed on the 9th August and all I have received is a thank you email.
I know living in the UK will slow things down but how quick are they on your side of the pond?

They may be behind a bit, just due to all the efforts being thrown into the election. If you want to PM me your membership number, I'll call them from "this side of the pond" and find out what the deal is!

I've been an annual member since I was 12. I'm nearly 70 now. I just keep sending them my $ year after year.

I've read the complaints posted here and I've heard them before, but I still believe in the NRA and as you can see, I continue to support them. Not perfect? Probably; but their hearts are in the right place, and we all know that the administration is hacking away at gun owners rights.

If you don't like everything the NRA does, then hold your nose and join anyway. The magazine is pretty nice too. Fact is, guns owners need the NRA.

That may be the case BUT how many Americans know that we, in Britain, have just had a visit from the President of the USA to tell us that we must remain in the EEC. How many of you would would condone your laws being being dictated by forigners (Canada, Mexico etc.)

The European Commision wants to tighten up our gun laws even further making .22 semi auto rifles illeagal, banning deactivated weapons.

Obama has told us if we leave the EEC (we have a referendum on the subject in a few weeks time) that we will have to go to the back of the queue when it comes to favours???? What like backing the USA in 2 Gulf wars, Iraq, Afganistan and now the fight against ISIS.

We also have a seaport called Boston, Bring on the tea.

There is a reason he is referred to as "BHO" here, and it is not due to those being his initials. He is a "hoe" for every leftist cause known to man.

Ignore him. He's gone in several months (thank God). I'm not sure we will get anyone better. We'd be hard pressed to get anyone worse.

OK but our referendum is in early June and as far as the British voter is concerned he IS the USA.
That means that pro US voters will vote to stay in the EEC and we will have give up more rights like firearm ownership (or what we have left of it), borders open to anyone who wants to live off our state including medical care that native Brits have paid all their working lives for.

The Germans want to ban the use of Classic cars and motorcycles except for pre arranged shows.
I don't think you will find anyone on this forum willing to defend the man, his actions, or his ideas. You are entirely correct that he should have kept his trap shut, especially after he took offense at Netanyahu's criticism of his lousy Iran deal last year. BHO is a hypocrite and a man who does not understand the concept of fair play.

Agreed. Though I'll parse words here. BHO may be a male; he is hardly a "man" by any standard definition of the word...

An individual of neutral gender possessing the morphological characteristics typically associated with a male of the species?
