Saturday afternoon with the 94's

Post by Nath »

I collected young Tom after 10am and went looking for rabbit. We have gusty north east winds here bringing snow flurrys and fluctuating temps between the sun shining. Tom used my 9422 and the last Rem cyclones. I toted my 30/30 trapper. With some coaching Tom settled in and he started to connect with some critters.
We did not see much about early afternoon so made for camp and cooked some sausage and steak :D The late afternoon was much better. Tom shot two squirls and a pigeon. We were just about to call it a day when Tom spotted a rabbit well over 100yds away, I told him to stalk it up and have a shot. He got it from 40-50yds through the head :)
These were his first hunting shots with a 22 and he loved it.
Here is the pics,

I had two shots and missed, I did take some fur of'm though  [/img]

That boy must be one in a million! I mean, how many boys get to hunt in England these days?
Sincerely,

I see the dog is licking his chops.
Do you use him for hunting?
Looks like Tom had a great time, nice shooting

My beagle could care less for rabbits but will flush pats and tree squirrles.

wcf3030, Tia is used to flush rabbit and pheasant. She will retreive pretty much anything now apart from wounded crows. She is nearly retrieving wounded rabbits. She is only small and so easily intimidated but getting more and more confident. She is only 17 months old and is made to walk to heel when I'm using a rifle. Getting her to do nothing is harder than letting her hunt.

Good going Nath. At the risk of sounding like a broken record I will say again, "That's what it's all about". He'll never forget it and will be the better for it.

Outstanding. :D
I can smell the gravy now. I have a set of the desert cammies that you all use. I wear them coyote hunting in the summer very effective.
