Put it in some kind of padded case to keep it dry and prevent major ding-age and then toss it into the storage box on the truck.
Looks like a good... "Well, I'm stuck here, I might as well hunt." ... gun.
I liked the old Springfield M7's but they weren't worth much of a hoot.
This looks like an upgrade.

I know that cas handled one at the Shot Show and was not impressed, maybe (I hope) the quality has improved now that they are in production.
I too could use one...

Re: How Cute Is This ?
Charming concept; let's hope for proper execution.
Re: How Cute Is This ?
Well, doesn't look much if any more compact than the AR-7 I carried around in my Jeep or backpack for decades. And it is only a single shot.
I eventually discovered that a compact .22 lr semi auto leaves much to be desired in a "Jeep" gun. Mainly, it just seemed pretty puny the one and only time I really needed it. It sufficed as no shots were fired, but I sure longed for a bigger hole in the end of the barrel.
To that end, I ended up making the "Perfect Jeep Gun" from my old Mossy 500 in .410. Not as many rounds in the mag as the AR-7, but with the potential of anything from bird shot, to buck to slugs it's considerably more versatile. And with the afore mentioned slugs has much greater potential terminal effect on two legged critters.
It does way a bit more, and not quite as compact, but it will still store easily in a backpack (though I take it out of the soft case), and in the case it's well protected from the bumps and bruises a Jeep can dish out. Oh, and with the mods I made to the buttstock it's as fast to assemble as the AR-7.

Everyone here that reads my boring posts will know that I am not an advocate of the shotgun for anything other than bird hunting.
But that is a thoughtful and practical concept worth pursuit.

I couldn't hunt anything with that in WA.....Perhaps one in .357 would be more useful.....

What mods?
Wooden butt stock replaced with a synthetic "youth" model (I have fairly short arms and I'm not crowded too much)
The recoil pad was removed, and the screws tossed away. The pad is held in place with a heavy duty Velcro.
Stock bolt was lengthened and a Tee handle put on it so that it can be easily loosened and tightened without tools.
I've since replaced the fore end and plan to have a piece of picatinny rail mounted on the receiver. I figure a holo or red dot sight would work well.
I've done a similar job on my old 20 ga Franchi Model 48. It is now my "Perfect Pickup Gun". Need to get a holo sight on it as well.

Re: How Cute Is This ?
I first saw the Chiappa "Little Badger" in January at a dealer expo.I ordered one at that time and took delivery of it about 6 weeks ago.I found it to be very handy and accurate as can be with the peep sight.
Just recently I mounted a reflex red dot on it just like the one the young lady has on her rifle.I have not gotten a chance to shoot it with the new sight but will in the next week or so.
They are a shade expensive. My dealer cost plus shipping was $155.Not much mark up as they sell for around $190.
It was an itch that I scratched and not one bit disappointed in it.

Only one I could find on a quick search was listed on GB for $250!
I've had a couple Springfield M-6's. Nothing to get excited about, but this one looks cute!

Re: How Cute Is This ?
I took a stock stock bolt and welded on an extention that when tightened is just inside the body of the butt stock. That way the head of the original bolt held the metal "washer" in place. On the end of the extended bolt I welded a short cross piece. The cross piece is short enough to turn inside the hollow of the butt stock. You can turn the Tee handle with thumb and fore finger.Mescalero wrote:Please explain the Tee handle further.
The recoil from a .410 isn't all that great, and I've haven't had a problem with either the stock bolt coming loose or the Velcro on the pad slipping.
Assembly is pretty quick. Pull off pad, attach butt stock and tighten bolt, reattach pad. Install barrel requires unscrew the knurled knob, slide on barrel and screw in knurled knob . Load and fire. Heck almost takes longer to type it than do it.

Because the Chiappa Beaver is quickly flipped up & shot while the AR & shotgun carry folk are fumbling around assembling their toy.
If they were opponents, guess who would get shot first ?
Besides all that, it's design idea isn't about firepower, it's about light weight & convenience - as when woodswalking, ILO fighting World War Z.

I would love to have a Marble's Game Getter with tang sight, but I would not want to pay for one.
Nobody said it was better - read the thread title - it's cuter
Volume-wise, it would pack very well, but I think they need to go to nonmetallics to cut the weight way down, then they would have a serious back-packing item.

Although I liked my Henry Survival Rifle (AR7) it did not fulfill my requirements for a really quick get in to action rifle, the Little Badger looks ready to go as soon as you pick it up and it's screw cut too.
Plus if I get one with that cute little back pack with the cuddly badger on it most folks would take me for a tree hugger..

Re: How Cute Is This ?
I think the main advantage would be it is a very compact way to tote something that will shoot 25 rounds quickly and reasonably accurately, without the need for assembly. The only question would be accuracy but if it has a five and a half inch barrel with decent sites it could be adequate for many purposes.awp101 wrote:Local shop has one of those. Re: How Cute Is This ?
Never run into an AR-7 that was actually reliable.
Keltec's are in a significantly more powerful caliber, the problem is finding one since Keltec (from what I've heard) only makes one model gun at a time. I haven't seen a Sub-2000 for sale in YEARS (literally) that was new. They disappear as soon as a production run is finished.
For a pure survival/stash-away type gun the Chiappa might have some promise. A Trijicon RMR would take up very little room and do well for the purpose it's built for.

Re: How Cute Is This ?
Actually James Bond didn't shoot the helicopter down with the AR-7, he shot the guy throwing grenades from the helicopter in the shoulder. The bad guy dropped the grenade and it went off in the cockpit and that took down the helicopter. It was in one of movies where Sean Connery was young. As for a simple little truck gun, the Rossi Trifecta has 3 barrels, 20 gauge, .22lr, and .243, and it comes apart and goes together fast enough. I just have not messed with PillHer's enough to find what it likes and get the accuracy to what SightHunter's Remington will do in .243. The Trifecta comes with a padded case, has a safety for the lawyers, a Ruger style transfer bar, and is not too heavy. For traveling where you are going to be way out in the middle of nowhere, it is a rather decent setup.

Re: How Cute Is This ?
Makes a .410 look impressive. Talk about a rough chamber, he struggled removing every round of brass. Polish it up with Flitz and he should be okay. That 9mm shotshell looks very close in size to a 357 magnum. I wonder of that action could handle the pressure of a 357. That would make for a versatile backpack or truck gun but again I'd be totally happy with one in a 22 magnum. Thanks for the vid!game keeper wrote:Over here we can buy this "Kimar" version in 9mm rimfire. I guess, when it comes right down to it, real Chiappa quality is non-existant - although they seem to provide plenty of eye candy to drive sales.
Maybe they don't care about repeat customers............................ (one & done)

Re: How Cute Is This ?
The build quality of the 9mm shotgun (same action) in the video looks suspect to me almost toy like..
I'm hoping to find a shotgun version over here that has had some use so I can see if they hold up.

Whatever you do always give 100%........... unless you are donating blood.

CAS: The 2nd O/U from top, is that a Stagg 30/30 over 20gauge. If so how much were they asking for it?
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

No it's not the Stagg design, they call it the Double Badger 22/410 or 22mag 410. MSRP around $345-$350. Some good, some bad with that one. Again not as tight as I would have liked, but no where near the looseness of the other thing. http://www.chiappafirearms.com/product/2626
The more expensive Chiappa stuff, the triple barrel shotgun, the Winchester Leverguns clones all seemed real tight and nicely made. I was surprised those two were so crude.

Slow is just slow.
