J Stevens 32 long rimfire

Post by gatorcole »

Well to day I got a weapon that I know is probably going to be a wall hanger. But it never hurts to ask where one may get some ammo for this beauty. I know that 32 long rim fire is not made anymore but so are Ford Model A cars to but if you find one in good condition you buy it.
So yes I have searched the net only to find ammo that is so old that the lead is white. But I have read that some other country's may manufacture this ammo. So does anyone know what country to look at. Thank I will post pictures as soon as I resize them.

The .32 rimfire Navy Arms imported many years ago came from Brazil. They had .32 rimfire and .32 long rimfire. I have wondered if it is regularly produced there of if they had it had special. They also had some .41 rimfire from Brazil.

Thank you all for the help on this. Can not wait to get started shooting this sweet gun. Now if we could get powder to reload with that not going to take six months to get from the date of purchase.

I had a Rolling Block in .32 Long. It was a great shooter with the Navy Arms ammo.
Another rifle I wish I hadn't sold!!

Ha! My little store room has a bit of everything. What I have is well stored modern stuff and sure fire.

The going price on this stuff is $100 a box. I have one full box and another with 18 rounds. $75 plus shipping gets it to your door.--------------Sixgun

If you are getting the Dixie reloadable shells just load them with black powder which is what the gun was made for and is available online right now.

The shell has a shouldered hole in the base into which you insert a .22 blank. Add black powder, thumb press in a bullet (Dixie recommends a round ball) and you are ready to go. they have to be loaded into the firearm such that the .22 blank lines up with the firing pin so they won't work through a repeater. I bought one many years ago to try in my rolling block and haven't gotten to it yet.

I picked up a center-fire converted block along with all the other action small parts for not much money. The conversion was done, but the parts weren't used - I don't know how comfortable I would be buying a complete converted rifle long distance, since I would not know if someone shot too-hot loads. I have a .25 RF 1915 that I almost got ripped off on - many internals are missing and others were rusted solid, but the receiver is surprisingly nice. (It was advertised as working perfectly, but the price I payed was still OK for what it turned out to be.) I have another receiver that I rescued that has been torch "case coloured." I suppose I should to send it off for real case hardening if I ever use it, since I have no idea what burning on it with a torch did to it. I just need a .32 RF barrel, and I should be able to use 32 LC cases to make loads for it. I don't want to re-chamber to anything more modern.

Also have an 1894 and picked up the Dixie reloadables and round balls for it. I will try those soon.

We get these for the kids to collect, as they are inexpensive and it gets them excited about historical rifles. Even the littlest ones get all excited about collecting the different models and deciding which they like best.

I don't think the long colt will fit in the chamber. I tried 32 long colt and the case was a couple of hundreds out. But my weapon has not been fired a lot the action is super tight so that may be why it would not fit.
