The thread about primer indications of pressure made me dig out some of the old stuff.
Which cartridge had the highest pressures?
The one on the left was a factory 210 gr. load fired in a .44 Magnum.
The middle one was an overload that bulged the chamber in a Ruger .41
The one on the right was a standard load.
An old page from a 1940 Lyman Reloading Manual .. the article is how you cannot tell pressures from the appearance of the primer.
I apoligize for the poor photos ....

Thanks Sir, reminds me of using blue dot in 22 hornet. The primers looked fine so I tried 1/4gr more and then the primers started falling out

If I were to guess which one had the highest pressure just by appearance, it would be the factory .44 mag on the far left.

I do believe that's a .41 that was fired in a .44.

Primers can be real tough to read esp. in a hand gun or other relatively low pressure chambering. 1886.

The one I like is folks looking for primers backing out with 45-70 loads that are around 40,000psi. I always like to ask how much the primers back out or flatten in a ruger #1.
