Hornady LeverEvolution (and Win SuperX for that matter) is CHEAPER per each than Bulk Lead ammo...
I guess I'll just go get some brass.
Anybody use Varget in a .45-70? I already have a pound and good data, but would like to know your feelings...

The loads look good (IIRC 62gr compressed under a 300 and 50gr compressed under a 450 or some such) but I'd like to know how accurate/dirty it is in that big of a caliber.
I mean, I got the powder for 5.56....

Not to hijack your thread, but since you were talking about prices, I just got a box of old ammo turned in at work. It's a box of Remington 38 Special "Police Service Lead" 158 grain. The price tag on it reads, $4.34.
I also got a box of "Western" 30-30 Silvertips. No price tag on it. It's old but in good shape.
I have become a HUGE fan of Varget. This target is first 45-70 reloads W/ Varget. I had bought a can for my 450 Marlin and tried it in the 45-70. Needless to say I was pleased w/ the results!

I saw where bulk 100 rounds with lead bullets went from $100 to $119 to $147 to $165 in eight weeks time span. I guess I will reload my practice ammo too.

I have the bullets, the powder. a Browning 1886, is your load o.k. for it/ what is it if so, and I know all the warnings and disclaimers. I'm fond of my eyes and fingers and won't try anything not safely in the loading manuals range of loads. thanks!
