HELP!!-Butt Plate for Win. 94

Post by Rocket6R »

Post-64 Winchester 94
"Antique Carbine"
SN:2801xxx (manufactured in 1964)

The original owner put a thick rubber recoil butt pad on the rifle. I'm in the middle of refinishing the walnut stock and have removed the rubber butt pad. I'm now looking for any 94 butt plate (plastic, brass or steel) that will fit on the stock.

The butt end of the stock has a slight curve to it and the dimensions are 4 1/2"H x 1 3/8"W with the hole spacing about 3" (butt screw hole to butt screw hole).

I've been banging my head trying to find a butt plate for this stock and it's the only thing stopping me from fully assembling the rifle.

I would appreciate any help on the matter.

Thanks, Paul

I just checked EBAY, there is quite a selection of Winchester butt plates.

Sounds like it from your description. Shipping will be as much as the plate and screws.

Good Suggestion! I've already looked at ebay and could not find any butt plates that were the same dimension as my stock.

Thanks, Paul

I went to the link and ordered the butt plate. I think I'm taking a chance since there are no pictures of the butt plate on their site. For $4.25 I assume it's plastic. I've never seen a butt plate sell for so cheap. Hope it fits!

Thanks, Paul

It's the same as they list if you go thru the steps to find by make/model:
Home » Manufacturers » Manufacturers » 94 Post 64 Top Eject Antique (*) » Buttplate (2-7/8" Hole Spacing), and is the only one they list for that model. I can't recall when they ceased offering the "Antique", but it seems as tho' it was into the years they switched from the checkered steel flat buttplate to the plastic ones.

They made the model from 1964 to 1983. The original butt plate was checkered steel on my rifle.

I too had a post 64 Antique Carbine with a recoil pad, I took it off and put on a spare butt plate of my 9422, it was a perfect fit.
