Interesting gun at LGS

Post by Thunder50 »

Guy with a table across from me sold a Cimarron SAA in 44-40 to a guy. Beautiful little pistol. Nice, new, and shiny. Brought it back the next day. Had a bit of trouble with it.

He took it out to shoot, accuracy wasn't real good I suspect, as related to me, that when he emptied they cylinder the front of the case had expanded about .025", now it was almost a straight wall case.

Gun had been assembled, I guess, using a 45 Colt cylinder

Don't imagine the bullets got a very straight start down the barrel!!

Bet Cimarron got an earful, from the dealer, this morning.

Wouldn't be the first time I've heard of that happening. Makes you wonder if a 45 Colt got out the factory with a 44-40 barrel, that could get interesting for the shooter!

I believe this is the third incident of a Uberti with a mismatched cylinder that I have heard of.

The same thing happened to me. It was the Colt Custom shop. One of my 44WCF's came to me with a 45 Colt cylinder.

My Ruger Vaquero in 44-40 had a 44 Mag barrel on it. Ruger got stupid and built a bunch of 'em that way.
