tech info: disassembling Winchester 94AE receiver

Post by new pig hunter »

There's a couple of how-to's out there for disassembling the Win 94AE receiver. But this one is short and sweet, and has given me the courage to finally take mine apart. There's nothing like watching a video to make it easier. Words & pictures are good, but to me a video is the best ....

Thanx guys for the videos! I will give this a try. Looks pretty simple. Is there a vid to show how to slick up the inside workings while we are inside it?

Dennie, there may be. I know I have never gotten that brave. Steve's Gunz (aka Nate Kiowa Jones) has a DVD on how to slick up the Rossi version...I suspect that would apply to Wins as well. There have been a few threads threads about how to lightly stone the sear, etc.. This is also a good article by Mohave Gambler here:

http://www.time-slice.com/mohave.gamble ... ster94.htm

on how to slick up a Win 94, but I have never tried it (don't trust my mechanical abilities...I will change a lever. stock, sights, etc. but I don't touch trigger groups on any guns!).

Here are a couple other resources on tuning a levergun:

I also found this good video on the Marlin...tuning starts at 3:45. There may be tips you can use on the Winchester.

Thanx alnitak. Lots of info in the first site, and the others. I have an AE Trapper in .30-30. I have NKJ's video on the '92, but there is a lot of difference in the two models, especially the AE with the tang safety. Thanx again for your help.

A websight called the frugal outdoorsman has a very good tear-down/re-assembly article by Junior Doughtery(sp). I used for my first and had no problems at all.
