OT Need your writing skills again
Y'all did such a great job helping me write a rebuttal to my senator, I would like to enlist you again. My local weekly liberal rag wrote an article needing my comment.

How does legaly exersizing a CCW increase the likely hood of poaching. Poaching is done by criminals and will be done regardless of the fact that guns are legal or not. As to the people with itchy triger fingers CCW is alowed in many states and cities and you dont see CCW holders running around shooting people for little or no reason.

My local prosecutor used to live at the end of my street and when Michigan was in the process of adopting shall issue CCW reform he would often say inconversation, speeches and in published interviews that he would need more staff, an expanded jail, and another cemetry in this county because the streets would run red with blood, every misunderstanding or arguement would end in an shooting, & every fender bender would be a running gun battle.
I labeled him a hysterical fool in print and told him to his face. Since then (privately and publicly) I have asked him for an apology several times but he continues to tell everyone 'to just wait.....it will happen'
Michigan has had shall issue permits now for about 8 years. The result has been an decline in violence, and over all crime. The same as every other state that has gone to shall issue permits.
I am cynical enough now to believe that 'they' know this by now but it is a useful politcal issue and nothing gets people to contribute to a PAC or campaign quite like scaring them!

As we have seen in the recent past, it is the gun free zones, i.e. college campusus, churches, national parks, etc. where the criminals are looking to wreak there havoc because they feel safe in those environs as guns are not legally permitted. These gun free zones are not "crime free zones". Most responsible adults who are legally licensed to carry a weapon concealed do so without the general public (sheep) being aware that they do. Why, because it is "concealed". And the weapon that they carry concealed is a handgun, not a rifle or a shotgun as seemed to be inferred by the writer of the article. Granted, there are some stupid individuals out there who, knowingly or not, put themselves at risk because they do not take the time to become aware of their surroundings (situational awareness). There are plenty of predators, 2 and 4 legged, ready and willing to take advantage of those people. Sall I go on?

You guys can't hunt state parks in NC?
We can here after Columbus day. After all, our licenses fun a good part of those parks.

It doesn't seem to occur to these arrogant fools that the criminals in the parks ALREADY carry handguns, even now...because they break laws! The ONLY people the ban affects are the 'good guys' - so increasing the numbers of them armed should have extremely little detrimental effect, and great potential good.
Each category of gun owner can be expected to have a possible change in behavior, good or bad, and with a 'slope' depending on just how relevant the law in question is to that category of person.
For instance, the totally honest, gun expert, will have a very high response to the law, and in a positive (less law, less crime) direction, because all their resultant increase in carrying will be safe and thus beneficial.
The rapist/stalker will have a basically flat line response, law or not.
The rare individual who is irresponsible yet somewhat law abiding would have a negative slope, because their increased gun carrying would be potentially detrimental.
The statistics already abounding lead us to easily estimate the numbers of criminals, responsible people, morons, and non-gun-owners out there. Their responses are easily anticipated, and statistics already exist to document their behavior, so really, there is NO 'dilemma' to it.
The folks who wrinkle their brows and state things like 'well, it's a complex issue, with alot of strong feelings, and yet we just have to reach some middle ground' are clueless and shouldn't be entrusted to roam the streets without supervision; the issues are straightforward, the matter is NOT complex, and the sooner we start prosecuting and litigating these idiots as the ones responsible whenever a 'tragedy' happens, the better.
The NRA was not an 'accomplice' at VA Tech; the only accomplice was the school administration, and their governing board should be charged as an accessory to murder. Their desire to 'feel safe' caused real people to shed real blood, and they should be held accountable.

Doctors for Sensible Gun Laws
"first do no harm" - gun control LAWS lead to far more deaths than 'easy access' ever could.
Want REAL change? . . . . . "Boortz/Nugent in 2012 . . . ! "

It won't do any good to point it out, but that "wild west" claim with the "streets running red with blood" is the same hysterical assertion made every time this issue is introduced somewhere new. That should tell us something.
A man's heart devises [or schemes] his way, but the LORD directs his steps. Proverbs 16:9
Mr. Millard’s editorial sizzles with an hysteria that is reminiscent of when North Carolina proposed it’s concealed carry laws. Back in 1995 it was written that “the streets will run red with bloodâ€

There is a mustard seed kernel of truth to the premis in that editorial. Some people cannot resist the temptation of a tame deer standing on the shoulder of a lonely road.
Not long after T/C came out with the encore pistol I aquired one for $200. The previous owner couldn't help himself when a trophy buck stood too long on the side of a road. He touched off a 30-06 from the cab of his truck and is now retired on disability from the hearng loss and parkinsons symptoms from the "shell shock".
A few years later another aquaintance pulled into his drive in the wee hours of morning and found a nice buck blocking his way. He let off a 125gr. .357 from a 3" GP-100 and quickly lost most of his hearing. Then the blue lights from the possum constables came on and he realized that he had just been pinched in a robo-buck sting. When his wife found out why he was out and about at that time of night he got a divorce summons as well. I got that fine sixgun for $100.
Being in the right place at the right time can lead to great deals on guns in situations like these.

Tycer, my man, there ain't nothing too nice for me to say to the U.S. Park Rangers Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Coalition of National Park Service Retirees and the Association of National Park Rangers, or Mr. Harrison, let alone Hal Millard:
"The next time you go camping in the Smokies, you might want to think twice about complaining to your noisy neighbor. If proposed federal rule changes are approved, he could be packing heat. "
"Asinine" comes to mind:
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/asinine
Main Entry: as·i·nine
Pronunciation: \ˈa-sə-ˌnīn\
Function: adjective
Etymology: Latin asininus, from asinus butt
Date: 15th century
1 : extremely or utterly foolish <an>
2 : of, relating to, or resembling an butt

NOTE: This forum's AutoPolice changed some words in the above-cited definition to what it thinks are cleaner synonyms!
