Mounted Cowboy Action Shooting Event Pics....

Post by RIHMFIRE »

Hi guys
Went to a cowboy mounted shooting event on saturday...
and I though you might enjoy a few pics.
Dont know any of the competitors...but they
sure looked like they had a good time...
and some of these guys were FAST......
Most of the stages were pistol events but they did
have a couple of rifle stages....they used 66s, 73, 92s, and
single action rifles.....I'd love to do this.....buts not cheap sport!
Lets see...ya need two 45 lc pistols, Gun leather, a rifle in 45lc....
Black powder blanks, and your western outfit....
Horse and tack, feed, feed, and more feed, vet bills, Blacksmith bills
trailer/camper, Big truck, and lots of gas......entry fees for each
event/stages....thats a bag full of cash.....but they all had fun

Yeee Haw :D Looks fun but what about stray bullets I notice spectators there I think it kind of dangerous  I was told somebody went to a cowboy shoot and they would drop There guns down when the gun is empty trow it down what if the gun discharges a round  and I treat my guns with more care than that. I'm just wondering Don't get me wrong do they use some special ammo :?:

Thanks for the pictures.

I've been a SASS member for years and I have the guns and the horses. I've often thought about competing just havne't gotten that far. My horses are barely broke as I bought them as yearlings and during their three year old year I had shoulder surgery which meant no riding. So I'm a year late on where they should be. So in reality they've only had a couple months of riding and they're no way ready to go. Maybe some day.

Thanks for the great photos, are you going to give it a try? There was not anyone doing that around here when I had my horses. It got started sometime after I had back surgery and had to sell them.My grandsonand I joined a CAS club in September but they've not shot in three months do to bad weather, should be a shoot next Saturday.

No...This is Silver Sands Horse Arena in Volusia County,
south and west of Daytona Beach...My house is about 1 mile
from there....Competitors were from all over the state.

Silver Spur is in Kissimme Fla.

I'm thinking that with the new 1851's and my mule, I need to set up the riding arena and give this a go!!! I was just looking on the sass sight the other night about this. I said I wouldn't shoot competition but this looks really fun.

blessings.
