I've been invited turkey hunting for the first time.
I load for trap and skeet, should I load for turkey?
What diameter choke should I get for my 28" Mossberg 500?
I have a Weaver Side Mount for the gun that I've never installed. Needs no D&T. Should I give it a go?

Well, if you can it probably wouldn't hurt but since turkey loads probably aren't shot in volume I don't know that you'll save $ that way.
I'm going to the farm to test some loads and I'll try to get a range report posted by Sunday evening for all to see.

The worst kickin I've ever received was a 3 1/2" turkey load from a Mossberg 835

cnjarvis listed the "Federal Magshok w/Flitecontrol, 3" No. 6" ammo as one of his choices for turkey hunting in another thread. It is a good choice and I used them last year with good results. Cabella's sells Hi-Viz sights for shotguns and the Tru-Glo brand too. They would be a good choice for your Mossberg.
No matter what you decide to use don't forget to take some strike-anywhere matches with you. You never know -- you might need them.

I assume you mean spring turkeys - my FALL turkey load is a Winchester 1892 in 32-20 with a 115 lead FP bullet and about 9g of 2400.
If you are talking spring turkey - I would not load your own - I buy Winchester high velocity in the black box. #5 shot use a Remington 870 Super Mag 3.5" - although these shells are the hardest kickin' meanest load I ever shot.
