I apologize in advance to the Posting Police (not you, Hobie) if this has been posted already. I don't remember seeing it previously (of course, I don't remember what I had for breakfast either...).
Buddy E-Mailed this to me - no details. Appears to be older vehicles & one of the guys is carrying a wheel gun. So, might be some age to this...

My idea of relocating a bear consists of relocating it from that mountain meadow over there to my floor in my family room by way of the taxidermist's shop.

Hey, Joe. Like I said, there were no details to go with the photos. In checking to see if I could find further info (Snopes, etc) I could find nothing other than photos. One of the sites had one additional photo, but I hesitated to post it as it just looks "different". Not "Shopped" or anything, but it just feels like it is from a different incident. Vehicle vintage is about correct, though. Anyway, here's the photo. Looks like the head took some hits...

I think I remember reading about this in one of the shooting mags.
Instead of running off like they usually do this bear spun around right out of the cage and knocked the one ranger off the trap. At some point he was able to draw his revolver (357 I think) and fire all six shots. Slowed but not down the bear continued the attack until the ranger's partner finished the argument with a blast (or two) from his 12 ga.
I want to say that this was in the American Rifleman or Shooting Times @ 1990 but can't remember for sure.

My info may not be any more complete than anyone elses, but,.... I recall asking a local Cody guy I know about this years ago. He knew the Game and Fish guys name, what gun and load he had (Smith 19 with 158 gr JHP), where it happened, etc. I believe it was in Wyoming somewhere near Cody(near in Wyoming can be within 75 miles). I recall that he also said the guy got a 44 after that, but his 19 did kill the bear. I don't remember that anyone else shot, since they were pretty tangled up while it was happening, but it was probably 12 or 15 years ago or more that I heard about it.

Yeah; 1886's post was funny - but what about Hobie's?
BTW; I love the laughing smiley face.
