I just picked up a 416 Ruger built on the BLR by Wild West Guns in Anchorage, AK. They did some great work on this rifle!!!
I am very pleased with this rifle. I ran some test loads today. The 300gr TSX shot 1/2" @ 100yds with a vel of 2750fps. I am going to try and take an elk with it this month.
Ok....THAT is a Big Unit..... There is a 300gr Nosler Partition load @ 2200fps I've been wanting to load up for my Guide Gun, but frankly, I don't know if I want to shoot it or not

A .375 Ruger in that sounds like it would be useful for Africa. Would it meet the requirements for power? If so, it would be great. I can get a second shot off faster with a levergun than with a bolt. And, at 100 yards or so, I am no more accurate with a bolt than a lever action. I am sure the .416 Ruger meets the power requirements. I would need more recoil pad than what yours has.

I am glad to hear that. My brother has a 50 Alaskan Browning M71; one of the few guns that I find no pleasure in shooting. Your BLR is one fine looking rifle for sure.
Very interesting. Might be to much for me, heck I am balking at a BLR in 358! Want to add weight to it!! Then not sure if I can add enough!!
The 375 Ruger sounds great for Africa, 86'er says some parts, need 375 to shoot eland, and if I go to Africa, I ain't coming back without an Eland.
Would need to beef that up some though. Weight wise.
What puzzles me is they can do this, but many gunsmiths will flat tell you that you cannot modify or switch barrels, or anything to a BLR. Although, JES will do them, he told me, either a Steel frame, or if it is a new Alloy frame, it has to be the take down model. ( which left me out as my 308 is neither and was thinking of converting to 338Fed)
Awesome "bahr" medicine. That is a levergunner's dream Africa rifle well at least this levergunner.
