I am really bumed out over a missed........
opportuity for a M-88 with cut checkering in good condition in 308 Win. Our local Ad Bulletin hits the 7-11's etc on Tuesday morning. It ususlly has a good guns for sale page. Right there in the first column is a M-88 for $400. I called the fellow,no answer, left msg.Long story short. The guy did not call back, so I called back a couple of hours later. His answer was not what I wanted to hear. Another fellow had called and bought the M-88 and a 1911 he had for sale about 1/2 hour before I called. I was not a happy camper. Mabe next time. A M-88 for sale in this neck of the woods is a RARE bird. Rant off !!!!!! Thanks........
Model-71's forever !!!!

When I was guiding and punching cows for a ranch in Colorado, I kept an eye on those papers. Well, one morning, I got into town real early, and got a copy right after they were put out. Some lady 40 miles away from me had a 39A and a single six, both in .22 magnum, plus 1,000 rounds of ammo, for $200! I couldn't get a darn signal on my cell phone! Someone else got ahold of her first.

That gun ? A seller's market, fer sure. He was probably selling it as you called.
Worse happened to me.
I called on an ad once, made an appointment to get to the seller's house about 1/2 hour later(I was 40 mies away), and left my house for the appointment.
When I got there, the gun was sold & gone !
It turned out the seller had a buyer looking at the gun, when I called & he made the appointment for me to see it - without telling me.
I thought it sucked.

I've missed out on a few things like this, but I get over it. I tell myself that it wasn't meant to be, and there's something better suited to me that I havent found yet.
Case in point, at the very last show I went to I missed out on a couple items by minutes or seconds. On the way home I stopped at a couple of shops as is my custom, and at the first one they had just taken in a Colt 1991A1 Compact. It had been hardly fired, had no wear to the phosphate finish, had the original case, manual and two mags and best of all was priced at $425. I ended up getting it for $425 OTD.
Things happen (or don't, as the case may be) for a reason.

Might as well face it, you're addicted to guns . . .

I ALWAYS WANTED A MARLIN 39A IN 22MAG.....WHAT A RARE BIRD....
Didn't think the 22mag came as a 39a only as the 1894m.
If they did, I would love to have one as well. Seems the 39a would have been the better platform instead of that overbuilt thing they came up with.
...and I don't think he even knows it...Walks around with a half-assed grin...If he feels fear, he don't show it. Just rides into hell and back again.
