Me 'nt ma' lady,,,,

Post by Nath »

took a wee vacation to north Wales last week, here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ll%C5%B7n_Peninsula

We stayed in a trailer home and loved it :)

There is a beach jayne just loves relaxing on, no matter what the weather.

Image

Tia enjoyed her break too, begging for scraps like normal!

Image

This area is covered in rabbit and so dutifully I took my air pistols just in case! Well I got three for five tries so not bad :) Unfortunatly the photo's did not work out, sorry folks.

Hope you like.

I'm curious...

Is there some field-craft type of advantage to tucking your trousers legs into the top of your socks or is it just a tradition among your folk?

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

Did you toss out a line into the waters? I never leave home without either a 4 piece rod or a telescoping rod as I love fishing just about as much as hunting. Great pictures, thanks for sharing.

That is a pretty loose use of the word "beach" :D

This is generally what we would think of as a beach

Well, it slows down ticks. Do they have a tick problem in Wales?

Nath,

How far were you from Portmeirion?:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portmeirion

I have always wanted to visit Wales. The scenery, that I have seen in movies & pictures, has been very beautiful.

Sometimes I and others do this, I never really noticed me doing it that day! We were walking in an area full of scrubby gorse and there is ticks,,,,,, that day there was hundreds of tiring bumble bees as the cold weather gets to them and their life cycle ends. These poor bees get on the ground and like to get up your trouser/pants! Maybe just my sub-conscience made me do it,,,,,at least I do have some form of conscience

Glad you enjoyed your trip. Were you anywhere near the ruined castle of my ancestors, Laugharne Castle? It is where Dylan Thomas once spent a summer writing poetry.

Someday I must visit the U.K. and spend some time there. I have ancestry from Great Britain, Wales, and Ireland, and have never visited. You make it seem quite interesting from your posts.

Sorry Nath, I'm with OS on this one. A sandy shore strewn with beautiful women is a beach. A boulder strewn shore like yours is not a beach.
However, I'm glad you all enjoyed it.

Nath,

I asked you about Portmeirion because that is what first piqued my awareness of Wales. That place has been featured in so many movies, TV shows, and TV commercials. I was currious if you had been there, or been near there. ...I think that I would have trouble pronouncing the names of many of the Welsh towns & counties:wink:

My Grandmother always told me that her father, M. M. Wright whose name I use for my SASS alias and here, came here from Wales but I can't find any paper trail of him. Pretty much a rascal who was the sheriff of Green County Arkansas during reconstruction. What they called a "Carpetbagger". He was killed in a gunfight in Paragould Arkansas in 1873. His neighbors were so saddened by his death they didn't even bother to hold an inquest.

Well fellers you may like your sandy shores but one picture don't tell the whole story see!

This beach of ours does have alot of sand, behind the camera!

It is not over crowdered and one can indulge in all manner of things in very near privacy unlike French chatue's

Beaches, whether sandy or rocky, have their individual allure and attraction. Mostly it's the smell of salt and wet. A cold winter rain can dampen enthusiam, but a warm summer shower will have the opposite effect.

Glad you enjoyed your weekend "off" on holiday Nath! OS and Casastahle, with scenery like yours, sand or rock... the beach is enriched!

Heck, you want to "dampen one's enthusiasm" see what happens when the Corvair gets stuck in the sand and you have to push it out. All under the watchful and laughing eyes of two of L.A.'s finest.

Very cool Nath. Beautiful beach and beautiful dog. no comment on the feet.

What kind of pellet pistol? I've got a sweet modified 1322 that would do a number on a rabbit.

and personally, I greatly prefer Nath's beach to the sandy type.

my ancestor Thomas Flint came from northern Wales to Mass in the 1640s. Everyone assumes he came from Flint, because of the name, but don't know for certain. I always wondered if he was Welsh or English and living in Wales - since Flint I think was originally an English town/castle used to try to control the Welsh.

There could be something in that FLINT, it is on the Northen border, not far from me actually!

I used a 1377 and a 2240. Both are good but the longer 1377 is easier to connect.
