OT but gun related: Big day ahead for me.

Post by bigbore442001 »

I am soon to head a bit north of me to teach a handgun safety class to a large number of people. I have been doing this off and on for several years and this will be the largest class that I will have taught. I am excited about teaching a group of people who will pay attention and express an active interest in a subject.

I just wish I could do this twice a week. I'd quit my day job. It seems that the sign ups are rather spotty. You'ld think that the work would be more regular but it isn't. I can't complain too much. The extra cash does help out with different things.

Keep up the good work, everybody has to do their intro somewhere.
In the old days it was a male family member, but it seems we MODERN folks have found a better way?

That is so true. Today things have changed. This experience was very rewarding and exhilarating. I love to teach but often I don't get the internal reward when I do a lesson. This was totally different. I felt like I was in my element and the people paid full attention and grasped the material. The grades on the test ranged from 90 to 100% for the whole group. It makes me a tad sad to see the lackluster attitude when I work with young people as compared to what this class offered. It seems that I can develop a really intriguing lesson plan for the boys but they demonstrate a medoicre effort in learning what was prepared. It can be discouraging to say the least.

What is nice is that a person asked me if I do this at other clubs? They are interested in having me come to their club east of our location. Many people want to obtain their license to carry but need a course as a prerequisite. I am hopeful that this will grow into something more lucrative and rewarding.
