Well-Dressed Wal-Mart Shopper
I spent the last weekend fillin' in for Wal-Mart driver's that wanted the holiday off... and a friend from AZ sent me this pic of a "well-dressed Wal-Mart shopper." Now, I'm sure you've seen those lists of other Wal-Mart shoppers that defy logic, good sense and common decency... but I think you'll agree, this is a VAST improvement!
I also want to applaud her retention awareness.

Looks like she might have a badge holder on the off hip. Does AZ allow open carry?

Yes, Arizona is an open carry state. Permit too if you want.
When last I was in a WalMart in AZ there were signs on the store prohibiting the carrying of weapons in the stores. So I would agree this is a great improvement.

Maybe it's just me but my idea of well dressed = attractive + short skirt. You know, they type that could have a .50bmg straped to her back and you wouldn't even notice. To heck with the gun.

Yep--cocked, round in the chamber, thumb safety on. It's called "condition one." She could also do with a proper, extra-thick pistol belt. Otherwise perfect!Tycer wrote:Isn't the hammer supposed to be cocked?

She needs to get a belt from Rob to support that hunk of iron, but othewise primo stuff. She is about the age of women that interest me these days.
Re: Well-Dressed Wal-Mart Shopper
Looking at the PISTOL , my money's on Condition-3: Hammer down on an empty chamber, full magazine (maybe).

+1 on the belt that gun is too heavy for that skinney belt, I also carry and practice from Cond.3 only in rare cases go in cond.1

Re: Well-Dressed Wal-Mart Shopper
My wife was looking over my shoulder at the posts this evening (she finds much of it entertaining reading!) and wanted me to ask y'all if your supposition of the "condition" of the lady's weapon is truly accurate. In her words, "wait a minute boys before jumping the gun (no pun intended!)." My wife agrees she is carrying a 1911, although she questions the 38 Super reference, and thinks her weapon could actually be in "Condition Five". Yes, it's true. You should check out Cylinder & Slides Safety Fast Shooting Kit. My wife saw these at the Tulsa gun show a couple of years ago and hasn't forgotten them. She wants one for her 1911. From C&S's website:
Condition Five? Cylinder & Slide's SFS "Widget" Makes The Impossible -- Possible. Once installed, this clever conversation allows you to place your pistol in the instant-readiness of "condition one," but without a visibly cocked hammer.
It's a pretty neat gizmo "thingy" and I may just have to get her one for her birthday.

Condition one for me at all times when carrying a .45 ACP or .38 Super Colt Combat Commander.

Griff, do you know what town in arizonna that is? She looks almost exactly like a lady guard that was a close friend of mine that I worked with. She moved to lake havasu when she retired. While she had to carry a gun on our job she wasnt highly into guns. Maybe someone is stalking her.
Re: Well-Dressed Wal-Mart Shopper
Pistol appears to me to be a Kimber CDP, cocked and locked would better for carry, and I agree on the need for a better belt. I just wish we had any form of legal carry in Illinois.

Re: Well-Dressed Wal-Mart Shopper
I agree with the cocked and locked and even a slightly heavier belt, but she looks comfortable, and besides, who is going to mess with a lady open carrying, in public? And as I have said many times before, 99% of the public is going in the opposite direction and has no idea what cocked and locked or condition 3 means. Most just see a gun and tremble in their shoes because . . ."everyone with a gun is bad . . ". Personally, seeing her confidence I would feel very comfortable around her. On the other hand, my sister-in-law in AZ would be freaking out.
All it takes for tyranny to succeed is for good men to do nothing.

Re: Well-Dressed Wal-Mart Shopper
I was at Fire Convention practice last night and one of the guys asked me if I was "going to wear that" (SP101) while chasing firetrucks, climbing ladders and dragging hoses everywhere.
I said, "Why not? I've worn it to every practice so far..."
"Oh. I never noticed before".
People are funny.
