OT - Sorta - Canada Goose breasts - Update!
for dinner tonight. Been smelling the great aroma from the crock pot all afternoon and with company arriving soon, it will not be much longer before I get to see if it tastes as good as it smells.
Range report after dinner!

The "Blue Goose with cherrys" (name of recipe) was fantastic! Those lesser canada goose breasts were some of the best waterfowl that I have ever eaten! Cooked in the crock pot, it was much the consistancy of a good beef roast- moist and tender!
Good news is that there is just enough goose breast, whole rice, gravy (yumm, with cherry taste) left over for two tonight. The bottle of Pinot Noir is gone, but there is another one in the bar.
Was never much of a waterfowl shooter, but now that I know how to cook it, maybe my Parker repro steel shot special will see some more action this fall.

Same here re Canada goose. Never really had much success in cooking them so i kinda quit shooting them. This fall there were about a 100 of them behind the house and i snuck up (hard to do with all those eyes on you) and managed to get one with my old Mossberg bolt with a poly choke and 2 3/4" steel BB load. Cooked it in the crock pot with a package of onion soup mix and a few onion slices. Had friends over who really are not too adventurious in new tastes. They loved it and now I'm told to get as many as the law allows. Might try snow geese this spring. Anybody ever tried them?
