Anybody know what the "telephone pole" in the background of the last photo is?

The power pole seems out of place to us, thinking that the gold camps were on the far flung fringes of the continent, BUT, sometimes those far flung fringe towns had modern amenities like electricity and "city water" in pipes before towns in the lower 48 did. It may have something to do with the fact that the towns came into being right when some of the amenities were becoming available, and there was a lot of money flowing in the succesful towns and camps.
