I am back amongst the working masses!
After seven weeks of looking, I have a job again
Week before last I started with a security company. After the second day, I knew I could do the job but it wasn't quite what I wanted as a career. It would do as a place holder and paycheck until I found something better. That night I dug around the job websites some more and found the national service center for an air tool manufacturer had just posted an opening for a technician and it wasn't too far from me. I figured with 10 years mechanical repair experience (appliances) and another 5 in electronics (with Uncle Sam) it was worth a shot. By 2100 that night, I'd finished the application and attached my resume.
Around 0830 the next morning they called and asked if I could come in for an interview. I explained I was working that day from 0600 to 1900 (yup, 13 hour shift) but I was free the next morning. I arrived for the interview and spent 30-45 minutes talking with the manager and getting a tour of the facility. He said he needed to speak with his boss who was out of town and he'd let me know ASAP. I wasn't 15 minutes down the road after leaving when he called me wanting to know if I could come back to do the background paperwork and drug test. I could have been back at home and I would have made that return trip...
I started this past Wednesday, making 25% more than I was in security but still less than I was at my old job that went away when the owner sold the business. The nice thing is, this is a national company with better benefits and it's not being run on a shoestring (as I found out after the fact that the old place was). I'm back in a tight knit shop with a good group of guys, doing something I enjoy (fixing things) and having a good time learning something new.
The Good Lord is certainly looking out for us. We had enough put back to get us through the holidays so I didn't need to find a temp job (which is all that's available during the holidays) and we even managed to put more funds back that we usually would have. I was able to take care of things around the house I hadn't had time to do as well as taking care of my wife when her Meniere's and ocular migraines flared up right at Christmas and lasted until the second week of January. I just had to have the patience to know the right thing would turn up at the right time without stressing or worrying. That's a hard but good lesson to learn.

Good stuff. It's great when we can wait and be part of God's creation and know it.

Fantastic!
You should be very proud of yourself.
Tough times/jobs scarce and you came through.
Well done and prayers sent that this will be your dream job!

I've "learned" that lesson many times, but each time I get so nervous I almost bolt and run for cover...

Congrats brother. I've been where you are and I know it's not easy, but it always seems to work out better in the end. God has His own way of doing things and I'm always thankful that He makes the plans and not me.

Great news!!
I had been in and out of work since 2006 going to school and doing any work I was offered, one day I put my future in God's hands and I've had steady work in my new profession for 13 months now.
Good luck and God bless.

Good for you then -
Re: I am back amongst the working masses!
18 month ago I experienced the same thing (company selling out). I was with that company for 27 years. I can honestly say that me and the wife did not worry. Prayer and the assurance that God is in control carried us through those times. I am working in the same field (agriculture) with a different company working less hours and less stress. God ALWAYS comes through!
Good on you and happy to hear good news.

Re: I am back amongst the working masses!
Thanks guys! I like to think y'all had a hand in it as well...
BTW, it's turned out to be a red-letter couple of weeks around here. Tuesday will make three weeks since I (mostly) quit smoking. I went from a pack a day to a total of 4 smokes in almost three weeks. I'm using the nicotine lozenges and they've REALLY helped. The first two weeks weren't bad but several guys in the shop smoke (outside of course) and being around them last week was rough.
