Back in the late 50s I bought a 92 for about $25. It was 25/20 a long octongon barrel. Next to no finnish and looked like it had been sitting under a chicken coop for 60 years. About 1970 I decided to restore it to .357 mag. I had it rerifled and bought new wood. A machinist friend carefully drawfiled the barrel and slowly polished the gun. A gunsmith friend bushed the fireing pin and did the action and blued it. I probley had something like $150 in the gun total in those days. It looked next to new! I once had a old shotout winchester 73 in 32-20 that I had redone to .38 special right after that. I stupidly traded or sold both!
Now I have the hots for a puma 92 octogon barrel rifle with case colored receiver in .357 that I just looked at for $530. I do have a beautifull browning 92 in .44 mag that I bought in about in the 80s. Wish I would have picked up its twin for the same money back then.

I am sorry, I had typed out a reply to another thread and it wouldnt post, so I put a new post. I had hit the wrong button.
Yeah I had bought the old win 92 for $25 in the 50s in wisconsin when I was a kid and many years later had it built to .357. Then belive it or not I bought a shot out winchester 73 in 32-20 and had that one rebored to .38 special. 2 of my dumb mistakes, and dumber yet selling them in the 70s!
