Just so you know, deer or bear hunting with anything other than a pre-64 levergun while wearing this get-up will cause a severe allergic reaction. Be warned!
And you are going to post a pic of yourself ready to go hunting.... right?
I have a couple of the LL Bean shirt jackets and several Pendleton shirts I wear if it gets super cold . But last couple years in Virginia thats been unnecessary .
Parkers , Mannlicher Schoenauer’s , 6.5mm's and my family in the Philippines !

I will indeed have J take a picture of me in this outfit in the fall.
Check and see if the Amana Colonies have the wool things you're looking for on their website.
Also the Woolrich company. We usually stop in the factory outlet store in Alliance Ne when we go to the bpcr shoots over there. Lotta nice stuff in that store.
And yes, Lady J thinks I have totally gone off the deep end of no return this time
That`s just a womans way of telling you she wants a outfit too.
Some nice stuff there bro, yes we need a picture of you wearing it.

Hey back when I kept English Setters , I WANTED a nice 16 gauge Parker for Grouse and a 28 gauge Parker for Woodcock and Quail !
And at the time I was still messing with steam engines so I thought the Packard would be a nice touch as well !
Can't say I was all up on the Harris Tweed Sport coat and Knickers though !
Parkers , Mannlicher Schoenauer’s , 6.5mm's and my family in the Philippines !
I remmember reading a story that William Harden Foster or William Tappley wrote about hunting with some older gentleman back many many years ago and this fellow had a 20 gauge Parker and a Packard like I made the link for !

I too have a soft spot for retro stuff. Hard to beat good wool clothing for hunting. My compliments on your sartorial tastes.

At my age I think you done real good. That is what I grew up with, deer hunting in the north woods wearing red and black wool. The coat my dad bought for me was a Soo Woolcoat.

Are you going to get vintage drawers to go under all that? The sort with the flap in the rear?
How about a necktie, im always shocked how many neckties i see in old-timey hunting pictures.
Ever run into any "Codet" wool clothing? It's a canadian company, and i used to buy their stuff when i lived in northern NY state
There's a company called Duluth Pack that makes these cool old-timey packs that might interest you too. There stuff is priced like Filson's though unfortunately

“Are you going to get vintage drawers to go under all that? The sort with the flap in the rear?”
no not going that far with this vintage obsession.
I do want to get a couple pair of vintage looking wool socks that are long enough
to wear up over the cuff of the pants legs like they did back in the day.
”How about a necktie, im always shocked how many neckties i see in old time hunting pictures.”
No necktie either, but I sure do love those old pictures of hunters dressed to the 9’s.
Our brother hunters of the past sure had some class.

No I haven’t.

Bottom line: Way too much time spent in ebay, asking sellers questions and making offers.
It’s surprising how much of this old vintage hunting wear there is for sale, and still in great
Condition at that. Guess it just shows how well it was made.
I’m actually surprised theirs not more of you vintage lever-gun carrying forum brothers into doing this same type of thing.

My compliments as well! What a flashback to the 1950's, when function and style were one. Give me wool way ahead of today's noisy nylon camo stuff.
Retains warmth even when wet.
And don't forget 'Shnee's' in Bozeman, Montana for 16 inch hunting boots.
Johnson Woolens in Johnson, VT has been making and selling jackets, shirts, and pants like those depicted for decades. They are still in business and still selling this stuff. Just a few years ago I bought a pair of black and green plaid wool hunting pants from them. Since that was less than 10 years ago, these pants aren't even broken in yet.
That red and black plaid stuff shown in the photos, along with comparable green and black plaid, was standard, everyday hunting clothing for all of the locals in my home town. Standard weaponry was predominantly Winchester, Marlin, and Savage leverguns. You could spot an out-of-state "flatlander" (and there were very few of them back in the day) by their clothing and their scoped rifles. Nowadays, things have evolved and the younger generation, local as well as visitors, wears tacticool camouflage and they feel undergunned unless they have big-scoped shortymag bolt guns. Lots of them carry great big knives, too. Ah, for the days of wool plaid, iron-sighted leverguns, and a piece of clothesline for a drag rope-not to mention hunting on foot!

I had a Johnson shirt for awhile until I expanded more then it would stretch !
I actually liked it better then the LL Bean one I had at the same time !
My gunsmith buddy and I drove up to Vermont from Virginia about two years ago and picked up the remainder of an old gunshowers merchandise to bring it down and sell on GB for him . Anyway at one of the places we stopped I picked up a brochure on the Johnson Woolens place ! Wanted to go by but we were pressed for time and it was the weekend as well !

darn! does that outfit bring back memories. In the 1950's-60's, my Dad and his hunting partners were clad from head to foot with the Woolrich black and red pattern.
As for socks, they wore a heavy wool sock, folded over the top of the boot. Gray sock with a red band at the top of the sock which was folded over -- equal amounts of red on both sides.
Most of them carried .30-30's -- Marlins, 94's, my Dad and my brother had Savage bolts --one or two had a .30-06. But the deer rifle was the Savage 99 in .300 Savage.
The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....

One like I sent the link to restored these days is gonna be $65,000 to $100,000 I think . Heck a nice restored pre 1936 Dual Cowl Phateon was about $250,000 20 years ago !
Or atleast that price seems to stick in my head !

Some of my gear getting packed for last fall.
Some are hand me downs , a couple are thrift store or flea market buys.
A couple of years ago , didn't get the model 1936 and the red plaid coat in the same pic but was using both as they were intended
Phil, that second photo of yours brings back clear memories of the next-to-last deer my father ever shot, back in the 1950''s. Right down to his 1936 Winchester, almost exactly like yours. One-shot kill with a Coreloct or Silvertip, I presume. Back in Dad's day deer hadn't evolved into being so bulletproof that only a gummytip would work.
My vintage Pendelton red wool hunting jacket and pants, heavy wool gloves, Johnson Woolen Mills malone wool tapered boot pants, Filson Packer Coat in front of this winter's fireplace mantel.
Check out Johnson Woolen Mills in Vermont for good wool hunting cloths. Unfortunately, the my tapered boot pants aren't made anymore, and I need a larger waist! http://johnsonwoolenmills.com/index.php
