Coyotes in Newfoundland...

Post by bigbore442001 »

Yesterday I was able to get out of work early and go with Dad to the Springfield Sportsmans Show. We go to have a good time, check out the outfitters and then have supper together.

While perusing the isles, I chatted with a couple who have a camp on the provincal island of Newfoundland. I was surprised to learn that they now have a coyote problem. The guide told me that the province reduced their woodland caribou licenses by 40 percent due to calf loss.

He told me that the animals arrived about ten years ago and officials figured they got there by some ice floes from the mainland. There is a part that is pretty narrow and would be feasible. Anyways, I did find it interesting and I hope that they can solve that problem.
