OT but related - Anything at this auction I should look at?

Post by Idahoser »

Local auction this weekend. Some long guns, I see a few levers I'm interested in seeing, don't know much about most of the others. Looks like a lot of bolt action milsurps among others. I'm too uneducated to recognize bayonets, I need two Garand, two AR and a K-31 bayo myself. I see ammo, maybe some casting equipment? tools, toolboxes... gotta go see it anyway.

Also posting at another favorite forum so don't yell at me.

might be some hidden treasures there. Looks like a lot of military items that I am not sure of their value or worth. I can see (what looks like) a marlin 336 and another lever - maybe an early winchester 9422. A couple of rimfire bolts - you might be able to pick one of them up cheap.

I like the canoe... and I am sure something in all those books would be of interest to read.

I'd go if it was close by to see

And I thought I had too much stuff! This guy was in the pack rat major leagues.
Anyway, looks like some good stuff there, guns as well as a lot of American made fishing tackle and tools, much of which cannot be bought new anymore.
Have you hugged your rifle today?

I would go if I could with the idea that I might get a good No. 4 or No. 5 rifle, some bayonets, and some other stuff. I'd have an idea of what I'd bid max and not go over that, much... Shame you didn't know the guy before his stuff was an "estate"...
Sincerely,

Hobie

Man o man! I've been to gun shows that didn't have that much stuff.

Too bad my monitor shows pics so dark I can't make out much detail.
Anybody know that the thing in the bottom center pic is?

If I was in the neighborhood, I'd go. There's an Ithaca model 49 there that I'd like to have. That was the first 22 I ever owned and I'd sure like to have another one in decent condition.

Heck, that's the type of auction where you might find a live grenade or two burried in the bottom of a box. :P

You can click on the pics and find a serial number to make it easier to reference them, and to see a bigger version.
I'm guessing you are referring to the final picture, #92, which to me looks like a binocular periscope, perhaps with electronics? Maybe for a tank?

Yeah, I'm thinking of signing up to receive these notices. A friend turned me on to this due to the guns. You're welcome.
