Anyone here near Kitsap Co. WA?

Just wondering if anyone could give me information on schools and the local scene of Kitsap County? I am 1/2 owner on 5 acres that is up for sale there in the southern end of the county, and am considering buying out my cousin who owns the other half and building a small house/barn. I have a son with Special needs and need to dig into how the public school system is there also. I plan on taking a fact finding trip as soon as I can and explore the local area with my family, hopefully within the next 6 weeks and will be looking at jobs. If anyone who could give me any info I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Dont know where Kitsap co. is. I am from Clark Co. ( south,near Portland OR.).

It's just north of Gig Harbor Chuck, right across the water from Seattle/Tacoma area from what I understand.

My mother in law lives in Port Ludlow. Very close to Gig Harbor.
That is a very nice area, cummuting distance from Seattle and there are some very high class resorts etc. in the area. The property values are booming in the area. As far as schools, I wouldn`t know but you should be able to find out that info on line.
I would make a trip there and check it out in person if it were me.

I live in Kitsap. I don't know a thing about the schools. I know there's lots of meth around and that gang type stuff is increasing. WA is open carry but you can't get away with it unless you're out in the woods. It's shall-issue concealed carry and that's the only legal way to have a loaded firearm in your car. Even if it's in the trunk it's illegal to have it loaded.

There's nowhere legal to shoot in Kitsap except for a couple of small ranges. But there's good forest spots nearby.

5 acres sounds great. I hope there is no wetlands on it, becuase if there is you're in very deep trouble before you get started.

What's the water and sewer situation? I would think about that because depending on where the downstream water goes you may have a hard time getting a septic system permitted. It's something the busybodys busy themselves about.

The best guy I know to answer questions about this area is Bear45/70 on the levergunlovers forum.

What's the nearest town/highway?

With 3 boys, this is a concern.

It is wooded acreage with no wetland. The water is near the surface though from reports of the realtor. Something about how they were getting into wet soil at 4 ft. when they tested it So I would imagine that the well/sewage could pose an almost certain problem as well as what you mention. It is off of Fairview Rd. and I believe is near the border with the county South of you.

Good to hear they issue concealed carry permits...that is a plus. Also I am retired Army and National Park Service(been with them before) and the military bases are a big plus for employment possibilities.
