Moustache in November anyone?
Hadn't heard of this before, but I'm going to grow one in honor of my best pal's father, who died of prostate cancer.

Re: Moustache in November anyone?
I heard about it last week, the NHL is big into it this year.
Looks like I'm ahead of the trend for once. I've had a moustache since HS and a full beard for the past 10 years...

AWP: I had a 'stache for about 30 years, and shaved it two years ago. So I'm welcoming back an old friend ...

Re: Moustache in November anyone?
Hadn't heard of this myself... but just forwarded to my contact list. Have only shaved my 'stache off once since graduating buds, and that was only because six guys held me down and pulled almost half out saying NO ONE received their diploma from the police academy with a mustache. I only "thought" I was a tough guy!
I'll do this for sure, certainly faster than growing my hair out for Locks of Love. I think I've got an inch yet before my 3rd donation is ready!

I do that too. My hair is all wavy and would be high-maintenance if anywhere between burr and ponytail length, so if I want to donate, it means growing an extra foot past the pullback. Unfortunately, it always seems like it takes about 1-1/2 years for me to get enough to donate, so many SUMMERS I wind up with long, sweaty tangles-in-the-weeds hair that is a real pain in the butt. Several times I've just about given up and gone to permanent-burr...Griff wrote:I'll do this for sure, certainly faster than growing my hair out for Locks of Love. I think I was once told that warriors wear mustaches. I've had one since I could grow one with only intermittent, necessary, removal. I do not grow a good beard and long hair on the top of my head is extremely uncomfortable. Best of luck to those of you growing it for charity.

Re: Moustache in November anyone?
This is the longest I ever had it, but that picture is 30 years old. I shaved it off for a number of years but just started growing it again about two months ago. It`s approaching that long again but snow white! I played heck finding wax for it. It used to be sold all over. I think it`s about time to trim it though when you chew on it when you eat!

Re: Moustache in November anyone?
I've had a moustache since I was about 16. I've only shaved it off a couple of times. Once in Marine Corps boot and the second time just to see if my upper lip was still there. It was so I haven't shaved it off since. So I've had mine pretty much continually for 40 years.

Re: Moustache in November anyone?
I had a mustache and goatee for a few years after I retired but I'm now down to just the mustache. I've had one off and on for almost 40 years.

Re: Moustache in November anyone?
If I were planning on any 'warrior' activities, or even thought it likely I'd be getting in a bar-fight, I think I'd want a shaved head and little or no facial hair - it makes too good a 'handle' for an assailant. Maybe the 'Mohawk' thing would be of use if you were in a situation where the 'intimidation' factor would be useful, but face-paint seemed to serve the Indians equally well.Hobie wrote:I think I was once told that warriors wear mustaches. Re: Moustache in November anyone?
I got a seasonal job in the NPS as still a teenager. I was gone 6 months and grew a moustach. Went home and dad took one look at me and pointed at the bathroom and said, "Get in there and shave, ya look like a old woman!"
Re: Moustache in November anyone?
I started growing my stache and beard in the70's. I occasionally shave the beard but the stache stays!
