OT-Religeous:a few verses for those of us with cabin fever

Post by C. Cash »

The older I get, the more I realize how dumb I have really been much of my life. Often I react on this website the way I react in my everyday life....reaching for the Tomahawk way too soon. I'm getting better I think. Anyways, after I do such things I think of some of these verses(why can't I think of them before Lord? ). Just a few verses to think about during the Winter doldrums when we are all tested severely patience wise.

"A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense"Proverbs 19:11

"A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult."Proverbs 12:16

"A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly. "Proverbs 14:29

"An angry man stirs up dissension, and a hot-tempered one commits many sins." Proverbs 29:22

"For as churning the milk produces butter, and as twisting the nose produces blood, so stirring up anger produces strife."Proverbs 30:33

"Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools. "Ecclesiastes 7:9

"But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips." Colossians 3:8

"Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret-it leads only to evil."
Psalms 37:8

"In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry,27 and do not give the devil a foothold." Ephesians 4:26,27

"Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Ephesians 4:31,32

"My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20 for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires."James 1:19,20

Thank you Tutt! :) I would love to be there and would be honored to meet you guys. The same situations that have kept me nearly a shut in these past 9 years would prevent me from making the trip, unfortunately. Think of your frozen levergunnin brethren out in Pennsylvania once in a while, as you breath that warm Southern California air OK?

Good post and much wisdom.

The older I get, the more I realize how dumb I have really been much of my life.
Same here Chris. I'd like to add something to that. As I get older I tend to return to my roots. My mother was one of those that drug us kids to church and as I get older I'm very proud of her for that. That still small voice can sometimes be deafening. There have been times in my life that I was so far into darkness that it seemed I would never get out. But in the end I always did and I have to thank GOD for his patience, understanding & foregiveness. A moment of clarity in my life has been to realize that I serve the same GOD as Moses, Jacob, etc. He is same today as yesterday. He is my I am too.

Yes, I know what you mean Johnny. For me it was my Grandparents. My parents had gotten away from the Faith a good bit, and after they broke up I was sent to my Grandparents. With their lessons of scripture came a good dose of love and compassion. It all made sense to me at that point, though I did not become a professed Christian until after I got out of the Army. One person can make all the difference by sharing the Gospel as well as their time and love. Without the last two, the Bible doesn't make sense and turns into dry rules to be avoided. Also +1 on the Darkness part: been there, never want to be there again!
