I don't bother with the burn marks. Next time I shoot it they'll be right back again. And they are just marks, they have no effect on the shooting.

Unless they are from a .38 in a .357 chamber, or a .44 Special in a .44 Mag chamber, they probably have zero effect on anything. I am with Joe on this one.

Usually I don't do anything but run some solvent over them and wipe with a clean patch to get the residue off. I don't try to remove the staining. A lead away cloth will take a good portion off after solvent cleaning if it bothers you.
