Taylor 1892 Carbine 357
Hello,
I am new to this forum. I pretty new to lever guns and I have question about the Taylor 1892 Carbine chambered in 357 (model439). Please look at this link http://www.taylorsfirearms.com/products ... ection.tpl
Here is my stupid question can I shoot 38 spl out of the 357. I know I can do this with my pistols. Will the 38 spl chamber correctly in the 357. Models they have listed above the one I'm looking at are chambered in 38 spl and 357 mag, but their barrel lengths are different.
Thanks,
Pete

You certianly can. That's the nice thing about the 357 rifles is that you can shoot the less expensive 38spls.
Some rifles may have diffuculty cycling the shorter round. I had a Marlin that just wouldn't cycle the shorter 38 and a Rossi that wouldn't cycle more than three 357s at a time. Was easily fixed and is a great shooter.
Have fun!

Thank you all for your responses! On the taylor website, when they have some guns listed as 38 spl and some 357 mag, it really doesn’t make any sense to me. The gun is for my wife and I was looking for something that she would enjoy. I don't ever plan on shooting 357 out of it since the wife likes the 38 spl. She shoots 38 spl in her handguns so I thought it would be easier for her at the loading table to have only one caliber. The gun should be in a few days and then I have the CA 10 day wait.
Mike S,
Not necessary to stop buy taylor and check on things, but it could be a fun visit.
Thanks again,
Pete
