OT- A couple of pics from today's hike
This morning we headed up I-80 into the mountains to check out a mining camp in the woods. After passing through another well preserved town we headed up another 15 miles on a dusty dirt road. The objective was antique bottles, but mine was just to observe. The first thing we crossed was a meadow full of flowers.
Following a stroll of 3/4 mile, or so, we arrived at the place. It was 0930 and over 80º at the 4500' elevation and I was already fetched. It was a fairly big settlement and it didn't take long to locate a basement for what appeared to be a lodging house. The stones for the basement were jumbled and some large timbers remained. My two companions slathered on the bug repellent, but not me. With Thursdays chemo stinkin' up my pores they wanted nothing to do with me. Probing for a few minutes showed promise of metal and glass in a small pit, so they opened it up. I rested. Here is a 1880s wine bottle sitting in the dirt. Not much, but something.
After about an hour of watching them sweat and get covered with red dirt I headed back to my PU to cool it in the shade. I was lazy and didn't take enough photos, but really didn't have it in me to get too excited. At least I was able to get out in the Sierras and do something.

A walk in the woods is good for the soul, and the body, and I'm sure it must help those fighting pretty much any disease, including the 'big C'...

Mike,
Good for you. Get out and soak up some nature.
I just did the first "exercise" walk in a long time. E-gads I'm pooped.
I can only imagine how you felt.

There was plenty of bear and deer sign, but we saw nothing larger than squirrels. I keep my Colt Commander .45 in my truck and carried it today. Luckily, a nice spring was available for my compadres to rinse off in so that my old truck wouldn't get too dirty. My wifee gets testy when she sits on the seat in white pants and they end up brown. I arrived back home at 1700 where it's much cooler due to the marine layer.

Great pics, Mike and great that you got out.
I have to think it's good medicine to get outside.
