I was reading about the 33 Winchester. I was wondering if a Marlin 45-70 could be converted to this. The OAL of 33 win is 2.795 and 45 -70 is 2.550 inches.
So the question is what is the maximun length cartridge the Marlin action can handle ? Or is this cartridge only good in the 1886 or 1895 win?
NOT OT - not controversial- Marlin OAL -33 Win ?

need OLD Model 1895
BenT: The original marlin 1895 was made in 33 W. SO, if you could come up with one of those in 45/70,I'd guess a replacement barrel and you are good to go.. Not really worth the effort unless that orig.45/70 is a real beater with essentially worthless barrel..otherwise BIG BUCKS.. Nate
