OT - Anyone know S&W serial numbers?
Just thought I'd ask this very knowledgable and intelligent crowd (that enough sucking up for you
) if anyone has any literature on dates of manufacture by serial number for Smith & Wesson top break revolvers(44 Double Action in particular).

Actually did a little digging after I posted this and found that on GunNutz - looks like around 45,000.
I'm looking at one, but the seller doesn't know if it's 44 Russian or 44-40, so I'm going to have him measure the cylinder. The serial number is less than 10,000, so it could be either a 1st model or Frontier, so I'm hoping it's 1-7/16".
