A new to me Levergun Win 1887 10ga

I have been wanting an original 1887 for a long time. Most I have seen have been pretty rough with a lot of pitting on the receivers and banged up wood. I finally found one that looked and was claimed to be in original condition without the previously stated maladies. Other than a few boggered screws the exterior is great. The bore was advertised as having a little pitting which is somewhat of an understatement in my estimation. As long as she patterns well, as claimed, no worries with that. I have some 2 7/8" ammo coming from RST and hope to get out to shoot here this weekend.

Very neat. Wonder if you could have the bore polished/back bored slightly to remove the pits? I think your gun is technically a 1901 correct, rather than an 1887? I thought the 10 Gauges were the latter. Thanks for sharing and congrats!

Thanks. The upper bow was made for my Dad in the 40s or 50s by a local bowyer in San Diego. I believe his name was Frank Eicholtz. We quit shooting it in the 70s-80s fearing we might damage the skin or the leather grip. It is covered in rattlesnake. My Dad used to keep pet ratlesnakes. One bit him while he was taking pictures down at the beach. Dad got blood poisoning from the rust can he used to cut himself to bled out venom. He was a wild man boy do I miss him.
