Great levergun show today!

The Greensboro gun show exceeded all expectations, both with firearms and fellowship. Got to hang out with Edward Young and Ysabel Kid and some friends from other forums. There were LOTS of neat leverguns, many with very good prices. Saw a pretty nice flatband 94 go for $475 from a walk-in to a walk-in. They both turned to me afterwards and asked if the price was good. Not sure why they thought I was an expert, as I was just watching to see if the deal went down, but I told them it was a good price for both buyer and seller.

Saw a takedown 1886 Winchester in .33 WCF. Nice Browning 1886 rifle. A NICE (read NIB) Puma in .44-40 with the box for $300! I was so tempted by that one. Tried to get Ysabel to get it, but he was strong.

Plenty of pre-safety Marlins. TWO NIB first-run 1894CLs in .32-20 - one for $450 (no box) and the other with box and papers for $500. Again, was tempted.

But, the reason I didn't buy any of the afore-mentioned pieces was due to three boxes of .348 Winchester. A dealer had them for $35 per box. I offered $30 apiece if I bought all three and he happily accepted. At the end of the same aisle, I ran into a 1946-ish production standard Winchester 71 with added sling swivels and the factory-option Lyman rear sight. Excellent bore. Excellent mechanics. Worn just where it ought to be for a gun that was hunted with regularly. Came from the estate of a friend of the dealer. The former owner was the original owner and hunted with the gun for over 50 years. He recently died and the dealer was selling it along with lots of other levers (the aforementioned Puma and 1886, among many others) for her.

I'll post pics later in the week when I have time, but the price was just good enough that I wasn't going to let this one slip through my fingers like the one last year. Plus, I had three boxes of ammo (after having sold all of the .348 I had a couple weeks ago). It was the ammo's fault - honest! Now I have to clean the safe out a bit to make room for the big gun, both space-wise and financially....

It was a great show - one of the best I've ever attended. Just can't beat mixing good friends and good firearms!

I wish I'd have had more time to browse and socialize, but I had an appt this afternoon. I won't do that next time. I didn't get my 430 sold and that kept me from being able to browse the tables and find something I couldn't live without. I wish I could have taken your Triple-Lock home. Not in this lifetime, I'm afraid. Still, it was good seeing you and the few other friends and acquaintances I ran into. I've never seen so many people at a gun show in my life.

Oh, anybody want to buy a Savage 430? Never mind....

Steve, it was great to meet you face-to-face and walk the show with you for a while! I would have snagged that Puma in a heartbeat had I not already had one in .45 Colt, and not been looking for a .25-20 (Winnie or Marlin). You are right - it was an awesome show, and man was it crowded!

Congrats on the 71 - it was sweet!!!

I forgot to mention the new-in-the-box Browning 53 with deluxe wood (and it was NICE) for $750. Coulda been had for a little less, but I was more than tapped out. It sold shortly after I looked at it. It was a nice gun.

What caliber? Did that one sell before I arrived???

What caliber? Did that one sell before I arrived???

It was .32-20. I don't think I found it until after you left. The dealer who had it was at the front entrance, but normally has only military arms. I went to talk to him after you left and saw it then. It sold shortly after I looked at it.
