My 336

Post by Leverdude »

This is my first Marlin & longest running project. About 14 years so far, but I think I'll finish soon. I just need to blue the buttplate & install a swivel stud.
It started as a 1955 336C. When I got it it was shot out. My smith had Marlin rebarrel it & then he had it cased. I put a 70's stock on it & used it like that until last year someone here had a factory Marlin set with a crescent butt. I made a few calls & they sent me a nice hunk of walnut.

But it didn't fit so good,

So I got to whittleing & shapeing & when I was done I found this in that piece of wood.

OOOHHH NICE. But I will have to ask you to get me a new keyboard cause I just drooled all over this one.

That turned in to one beautiful piece of wood. I hope she shoots as good as she looks.

I tell 'ya, I'm not much on modern leverguns, but that baby really caught my eye. Nice job, especially on getting rid of that checkering. Also, a very nice subtle case coloring job. That rifle is almost too nice to get it outdoors. :D ------------------Sixgun

I wouldn't be able to afford it. I almost tossed the flutes to make it more authentic. But I like them. 8)

Leverdude,

I'm not even sure.
My local smith preps stuff & sends it out to Ohio to get cased. Had a bunch of stuff done now & never found cause for complaint.

That said theres a member here that does caseing I intend to give a shot. His website sure has some nice pics. Danthegunman or something similar.

The pistol grip isn't too hard if your patient. I started in august I think.
