Well I was originally supposed to transfer back out to San Diego this summer but Uncle Sam thought better of those plans. So my new orders are to head the other direction to Chery Point North Carolina.
Sorry Cowboy Tutt looks like I won't be making it out to shoot with you all any time soon.
On the up side now I get to harass all of you east coast gunners

Always been a southerner. The only reason I am currently north of the Mason Dixon is the Marine Corps stuck me here .
So been looking at shooting ranges in the area very few have websites for me to look at. I will have to really look around and see what sort of shooting sports are in the area.

Hey Jeremy. So what's your real job when you aren't getting youngsters to enlist? Here I was thinking you were (as my uncle the Navy commander used to call them) a mud Marine. Going to an air wing?

I am a Communications electronics tech. I work on the equipment used for air control. I have always been a ground side wing nut. Some of those units will make you wish you were a grunt.
OI not only mortar range of Hobie but also YK and a few others in the surrounding states. I smell a Confederate Leverguns Get Together in the making.

Nawth Kyeerlinuh isn't too bad. I was there for a while near Fayetteville (pronounced Five-ull by the locals) and kind of enjoyed what little I had time to see of it.

If you pass by my place on your way south, stop by and see the place you almost lived these past couple years...

AJ I was just talking about that earlier today the Corps does love to change my plans.
Hobie I will for sure try and swing by. We haven't started planning our route yet think we are going to take our time on the drive and catch the sights along the way.

I spent a couple of years at Cherry Point, I was with VMGR 252. Worked on Sky Pigs, AKA KC 130's. That was back in 1980-81.... wow that makes me fell like I'm getting old. Back then hunting was offered on base, and the rifle range was open to off duty personal on weekends. It used to get a little wild around there sometimes. One night a car slide sideways up to the main gate and opened fire with a full auto rifle, they sure did pock mark the place up good but no one was hurt. Oh the good old days.
Jeremy, thanks for the phone call tonight. I'm bummed as you know , but it sounds like you have made the right choice for your family. Keep me posted on that Confederate Levergunner's event. You, Hobie and Ysable and friends all in the same place might just be worth a plane ticket out there! Guess I wouldn't be lacking for a place to stay.
If you find a link for that range in East SD County let me know. We might use it for the SoCal event.

They still have hunting on base there and I am for sure looking forward to it. I don't know about the rifle range still being open on the weekends I will let you know.
