Just one short week away until hog hunting time! The long range forecast is calling for some rain between now and when the hunt starts but it should not be like last year when we needed floaties . I would recommend some mud boots be brought along, and in case of rain over the weekend if you have some rain gear it may be good to bring it also. Temps should be just right for hunting, mid 50's for highs and upper 30's for lows. Does everyone know about what time they will be showing up? We'll try to get in some hunting Friday afternoon, and hit it hard Saturday all day. Post up your approximate arrive time and any last minute questions you may have. I believe Joe is working up directions for those that need them and will send them out in the next couple of days. BrianSH, I have a parking spot already reserved for you when you arrive . Also, who all will be staying at the cabin and how many nights?
I'm figuring on arriving around 2:00 pm. I paid Joe already for cabin accommodations and food for Friday and Sat. nights. I tried to put the directions Joe sent into my GPS, but it didn't recognize the FM road. Do they call those roads by any other name?

This link should help some. The hunt area is about 3 miles north on Farm to Market Road 1699, Usually referred to as FM 1699. I plan to be there around noon, cell phone service is iffy but you can call me at 214-549-5217, if I don't answer leave a message and I'll roam up and down the road some to get signal or better yet text me. I'll try to make some kind of sign to put out by the road also. When I get there I can also get a lat/long reading and pass it along if needed.

I'm going to need a room or a bed or however that works too.
Jim
Jim, it should be room in the cabin. There's several beds in it and if it does fill up there's a motel near by that's reasonable. Right now it shouldn't be a problem but that's also why I posted this is so we can get a head count for the cabin. I'm going to try and be there around noon and we'll have the first hunt around 3:30 or 4:00.

I also wish y'all could make it. As I'm sure you know the hunting is only a part of it. The fellowship is the best part for me. The people from Leverguns as a whole are a great bunch of people.
Ricky,
Colin, Troupe and I will drive up late Saturday afternoon after Troupe's hockey game. We plan to stay in the hotel as we did last year and come out at daylight Sunday morning. Colin and Troupe plan to shoot one hog each and I may just sit in a box blind with Troupe to keep him company.

Pack a bag and rifle and come on! There is always room for one more. If your in the Memphis area you could be at the hunt area in 5 hours or maybe a little less.

Says the man who knows I think we already had the conversation about NAS Memphis
The rain finally melted our snow today after a long, cold week. Now that I can see the ground, I'll try to gather you some firewood before it all floats to the Red River.

Hope you all have a great time. I can't get away from work this year, but last year was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed meeting the folks from this forum.

As this is the leverguns forum, I'll be bringing a levergun or two to hunt with.
Probably a good chance to shoot something with my Steve Young massaged 44 Mag Rossi 92 trapper. One of my 45/70s will come along in case I need a hammer, and I'm thinking about trying one with a 357 if there is not much danger of losing one that gets into the brush. Browning B92 .357 in that case.

So... you think Ricky is saving Hogzilla just for you eh? Better bring the RPG in case he charges.
