650.00
I was going to order a regular blued one a week a go and it would have been 529.00.
I then went to my regular dealer and asked him to order me that same gun. He told me that he could get me the SASS pair for 529.00 his cost and would only charge me 650.00. I could not believe it since they were usually over a grand for the pair everywhere I have seen. He said they would be here the next day and I left. They came in and he called me to come get them. I went and picked them up and a few hours later he called me and told me I was super lucky. He said after reading the invoice later on that they were billed separately and his cost was 529.00/EACH and that they retail for 779.00/EACH. WOW....I told him that I didnt have the money for the second gun and he said since it was his mistake and since I buy so many guns from him that he would eat the cost of the second gun. I told him I would bring them both back but he said to just keep them.
I do a lot of business with these guys and they are always fair with me and only charge me a slight mark up if any.
He got them from Davidsons and upon looking at their site it is a little bit deceiving. The big MSRP is 779.00/EACH but then below says Billed Seperatley. We both called Davidson's and complained. You cant just call up and order one of the guns seperately so why would they be billed that way. Bill them as a pair.
You done good. And, you tried to make it right with your dealer. That's the right thing to do and you did it. I'd enjoy those guns while I had the chance.

Yeah, I really like this dealer and its just a mom and pops dealer. I was their first ever customer back when they first opened. I felt I had to take them back but they were having none of that. I think it was a good gesture on bot of our parts. Me by offering to let them send the guns back or do whatever....and them by taking responsibility and insisting that I keep the guns.
Either way, they are the newest addition to my family and im happy to have them.

nice!
I am about to start shooting again. Its been a year or maybe a little more since I actually did some SASS shooting. My son is old enough now to shoot and I have been getting together some guns for him to compete. These SASS guns will actually be what he uses.

Give him as much 'free advertisement' as you can, and send him about ten new customers; that will pay him back in the long run more than what just the one gun was worth. He's the kind of guy who deserves it, and you'll feel even better 'inside' about the deal you got.
Doctors for Sensible Gun Laws "first do no harm" - gun control LAWS lead to far more deaths than 'easy access' ever could.
You have to tell us which dealer you are talking about. I am familiar with several gun shops & pawnshops in the area. I live in Lacombe, and I would love to visit your much-acclaimed shop.

Yep, basically it IS a Montado w/o the stippling on the front of the grip frame and knurling on the backstrap. I'd tell ya the rest of what I think, but Rube got a great deal on a coupla shooters, and if they fit his son's hands and he can shoot 'em and enjoy he game; then so much the better!

I'd like to hear the rest of what you think.
From what I have read these have the Montado hammers, Wider rear sights and SASS serial numbers. I never planned on getting any due to me thinking they are over priced. Then again, the Taylor's Smoke Wagon is similar priced, not made in America and prob. not as tough.
The reason I got them was because of the "Thought price" which I thought was a pretty good deal. Turns out I was right.
