2011 gun fund didn't last long

Post by BenT »

Well I went ahead and bought this. Winchester High wall in 45-70.

Actually it isn't this exact rifle because now they are out of stock and I can't get a picture. Mine has the 24 inch barrel. My buddy has been trying get me to buy one all fall , but I can't find one in the store to check out fit and finish. Well the local shop got one in with a price of $1300. After fondling it my buddy bought one in 38-55. I caved in last week and ordered it. I got it for $775 out the door, so it was really hard to pass up. Davidsons has been discounting this higher end guns because they are not selling. Now all I have to do is sell some guns to replenish the $400 I took out of the savings account ( the non gun kind) to cover it.

Well, think of how much WORK you saved yourself, not having to fuss over what gun to buy all the rest of the year, because we all know you surely won't buy another gun all year, now. . .

I'll bet it's a shooter, and will be lots of fun. 8)

Absolutely gorgeous rifles. I hope to hear updates after you start shootin' 'er! I would like to get one myself.

Very nice!

I've got one in .38-55 (my late Dad and I got consecutive serial numbers) which is a great shooter.

Now all you need is the Single Shot Rifle box to go with it...

30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Nice rifle in the best caliber. There's so much you can do with the 45-70, from "quiet loads" at 300 fps to well, you know, the "shoulder busters". I especially like it when the big 400 gr. bullets hit the dirt, its like a mini explosion-----no guessing where the bullet hit. :D

Sure is neat gettin' a new toy. :D Its something we all need to do from time to time.----------Sixgun

nice pick up. I have no gun fund for the year of 2011. Going to be a lean year in purchases I think.
