I finally found a new place to duck hunt, and figured out how to hunt the spot. Luckily, it is close to home and doesn't cost anything. I shot a few ducks and in particular a drake green winged teal. I have shot only one other GWT and that was in 1987. In NY and NC I hunted salt water so the ducks behaved different and were some different species. Fresh water lakes require different tactics and offer species I haven't encountered that much in the past. This is going to be fun.....
I always have to laugh when I get on the forum. Somehow, you've always just finished a hunt. I envy your ability to really capitalize on the saying "Work hard, play harder". Ducks? You can't use a rifle on them.

I'm with Mike. I don't know how you do it Joe. You're here doing this, there doing that. You have to have a shop the size of two normal ones just to hold the support material. Plus, find time for work. You're a lucky man although probably a tired one.
You should be up to your elbows in GWT. They are VERY abundant here in OK and I'd assume the same for N. Texas.

People can talk all they want about Mallards, that GWT is my favorite. Best eating duck out there. I love hunting teal. Fast, like little jet fighters, easy to decoy, you don't need thousands of decoys in some scientifically engineered spread, a half a dozen and away you go.
My brother is Waterfowl Scientist, we would both be glad to come down and make sure you are doing everything right. Put you on the right path so to speak.
Teal are my favorite, but the first to leave most are gone by late Sept. I lost my hunting buddy this year so it will be a wile before I duck hunt again
