Picked up the 94/ .375 Big bore today that's been in Lay-in-wait for about a month.
Got a pleasant suprise when they brought it up from their storage area.
This nearly perfect rifle also had the box and all the papers!!
It's a beuatiful rifle that shows little, if any use.
Picture stinks. I was running out of daylight.
Can't wait to shoot it!!!

Mine is a top eject ser# BB0154XX with a Williams reciever sight. Mine was also rarely shot; the guy I got it from thought that the recoil was too much and didn't enjoy shooting it. I usually shoot cast loaded to 38-55 pressures. Actually, shooting factory 220gr 375s feels about the same as shooting 170s through my 30-30 m94 Trapper.
Very nice! I always wanted a BB94 in .375 I still have a 1976 write up about it by Elmer Keith! I still think the best 30/30 based case is the 38/55 or .375
Don't give up. I passed when they first came out because of stuff that I read and heard about them. Mine has turned out to be one of my favorite rifles.
I'm not jealous but I'm am peeved at myself. When those BB's were in production I said to myself ..... "OH YUCK, boy are those ugly"!!!
What a dummy, now I wish I'd bought one. Well, being the time of my life that would have been, I'd probably traded it off for something anyway.
More pics and a range report when you can.

Well Joe, I love ya a lot but I beg to differ! I think the BB receiver is a very, very handsome one and it would be one of my first choices in a levergun when looking for a "high power" configuration. I don't know anything about the 94 variants like you do, but that's just my impression of them and the BB's were the "top of the line" ones in IMHO. Keep on shootin' lead there Buddy!

LOL, yeah I know. I've come to believe that back in the late 70s and early 80s I was just too ... um ... well .... uneducated when it came to anything but what I liked.
I'm a bit more smarter now , and a more broker .

I know the feeling Joe, I do. Take care of the family first, that's what a Man is supposed to do. No shame in that at all! In fact its a matter of pride to do so.

Congrats on getting your Big Bore, and getting it basically new and in the box is just icing on the cake. Hands down, my BB is my favorite rifle(though mine is in 356). I will probably croak with it as my go to rifle. The Williams FP has proven to be the most accurate and easy to use sight, with a blade front. Look forward to your range reports and load develpment.

I lost Mine,as far as it being ugly-!not! the only reason I bought Mine was because it was Purty. It was basically new when I bought it in the late 80s. This thread got Me looking for it and can't remember for the life of Me what happened to it. Last time I remember seeing it was August, I had it at a Gun show and don't remember selling it, I think I would remember that. I would of had to do a transfer or I would have a copy of His FFL. I may be suffering from what Hobie has CRP. I keep looking for it to turn up somewhere.
Nice rifle. I have one just like it. I have a williams receiver sight on mine. I have found the Hornady 220 grn bullet the best for mine. The 200 grn sierra not as accurate in mine. Works out good as my marlin 375 likes the sierra so I have both weights covered . Good luck with your rifle. I think the .375 is the best of the big bore's.

Are the receiver sight mounting holes on your gun in the top of the side walls?
It makes a very neat installation and Williams has a 'Fool Proof' made especially made for it. I have four BB and they all have the FP sight equiped with the Merit variable aperture a great combination.
I bought a .375 BB in 1979. Traded it a few years later for a radiator for the car. Bought another one in 2003 and won't be getting rid of it for any reason.
+1 to what txpete suggested for the 220-gr load. Both my WinBB and Marlin 375 really like it, superb accuracy.
I came across one of these Winchester '94s in .375 in excellent condition today. The seller wants $680. It is basically in like-new condition. Don't know much about the cartridge, but the gun is beautiful (for a post '64). This Winchester big bore was made in the '70's. Are the cartridges still readily available? Can you buy what you need for re-loading? Anbody have an opinion on this price? Assume no box. Sure is a pretty rifle. The forearm has checkering that is still so sharp it will nearly break the skin.

I'm embarassed to admit that I haven't had a chance to shoot mine yet.
Work schedule had been stupid busy.
I have been able to scrounge up a good amount of brass and bullets since I've gotten it though.
Made a big score at a local show a couple weeks ago for two boxes of bullets for $25.
Also picked up a lightly used Lyman mold for $30. Can't wait to try that one out.
From what I've seen factory ammo runs anywhere from $30 to $45.00 a box.
$680 is right in the middle af what I've been seeing them listed for on the auction sites
though I bagged mine for $495 w/ the box and papers. Right place at the right time.

Winchester is the only company producing loaded ammo. It originally came in 200 gr and 250 gr versions. It's currently only available in the 200 grain loading. Brass and bullets are available... but only "from time to time." Hornady 220gr FP & Winchester .375. Both are current catalog items. You should be able to find a retailer thru Hornady & Winchester websites: Hornady Retailer Finder, Winchester Retailers.
Hope that helps.

There is a fine line between hobby & obsession! AND... I'm over it!!
No I ain't ready, but let's do it anyway!
Nice rifle! Once I had one, but I sold it to a young man who wanted a lever for moose and brown bear. I found it a bit to short in the stock, and with a laced butt-pad, the comb was too low for good sightening. Otherwise a really fun gun to shoot, and despite the low weight recoil was quite manageable. Finish of these Bigbores seems to be a lot better than for standard m/94 from the same time.
My favourite load was 33 grains of Norma 200 powder and Barnes' FN 255 grs to 2050 fps.

I had a 94 BB in 375, traded it off for something, some times I do wish I had it back, but replacing my Browning 71 was more important to me so that is the way I went this time around.
I still have ammo for the 375, I think the reason I got rid of it was because at the same time I had a Ruger #1 in 375 H&H Mag. ask me wich one I miss the most!
